When Abacus first started, it was one of those places that really stood out. The food was fresh, flavorful, and prepared with care, and the service was equally impressive , prompt, courteous, and attentive. However, things have changed over time. After they upgraded their menu and added a few more dishes, the overall quality both in terms of food and service has dropped significantly. The management now feels different and unfortunately, it doesnât seem to be working out in their favor.
The only saving grace that still makes us visit Abacus is their OG mango beer, âCinderella,â which remains a unique highlight. Beyond that, the experience has become increasingly disappointing.
On my recent visit, I ordered a chicken kebab dish (I donât recall the exact name), and it was a complete letdown. The meat tasted stale, clearly old, and was deep-fried to the point where the burnt flavor overpowered everything else. It almost seemed like they were trying to mask the fact that the meat wasnât fresh. For a dish that cost âč500, the quality was nowhere close to justifiable.
Abacus once had a lot of potential to be among the top dining destinations, but they are slipping. They seriously need to reconsider their kitchen standards and service management. As of now, I personally visit Abacus only for their beer and never for their food. I hope they also work on the quality of the food they serve and focus on customer...
Read moreLocated at 1st floor of Hotel Palacio building. We went there since there was a discount on their house made ale. 3 INR for the first small mug.
Food - 3/5 We had ordered Golden Ale and Tomorrowland Belgian Wit Beer. To accompany it, we had ordered a plate of Drums of Heaven. Very honest take - Drums of Heaven were very shrivelled as compared to other places I have tried. I have also tried breweries across India, the Belgian Wit Beer although it should be bitter and rich, their variant seemed bitter and with too much watery dilute taste. Golden Ale seemed above average.
Service - 2.8/5 We entered the brewery at around 7 pm, a time with very little crowds. So we had expected a fast service. The steward/service person were very less receptive and had to be called so much till one person showed up to take the order and explain about their offer.
Atmosphere - 3.5/5 The music choice was okay and the dim lighting was really nice. But the smell was a bit unappealing. The walls and glass panes seemed dirty. Even the table mats seemed dirty and needed a bit of cleaning.
Overall verdict - 3/5 Lively atmosphere and okay-ish beer. There is room for improvement. The staff can be a bit more receptive to calls. Local house made ales taste wise can improve a bit, which can allow customers to go for more rounds for mug đ». Will be looking for another visit after a few months to re-verify my judgement...
