Gam's Delicacy, one of the oldest traditional Assamese cuisine restaurants has lost its food standard. veg Thali is overpriced and not at all up to the mark. the Thali consisted of tasteless bland yellow daal, aloo pitika ( আলু পিতিকা) without chopped dhaniya paat, onion or green chilli which are essential for any pitika plus the boiled potatoes were not cleaned and peeled properly. two types of basic sabjees, one smelling too much of jira powder and the other pumpkin stems anjaa ( ৰঙালাউ আগৰ আঞ্জা). I am telling you I hardly touched them. the omita Khar ( অমিতা খাৰ) was undercooked and absolutely cold. we ordered a non veg fish curry dish i.e pabda (পাভ মাছৰ আলু বিলাহী ) tomato plus potato curry. unlike they used a big bell matel bowl to serve currys in the gone years, it was served in a small boat shaped swallow dish. it was too tangy and the tomato pieces were almost raw. well masor Tenga is one of the most basic Assamese fish dishes.. the platter had no dry xak bhaji. what can I say more....their signature dessert koni rice payokh ( কণী চাউলৰ পায়স) tasted pathetic. it was cooked with regular rice and diluted milk powder. it was total waste of money. the food was horrible. even some street dhaba food is far better than their so called authentic Assamese food. I was noticing a family from Kokrajhar was also complaining the waiter about some non veg dish...
Read moreAs one of the oldest Assamese cuisine restaurant, it's sad to see that Gam Delicacy has been out of track for a while now. Last, when I visited it, the atmosphere was good as before which do provides a good sense of Assamese tradition & culture. Even the staff was well trained & well behaved who tried their level best to provide the best experience. But here's now, where the the experience goes a bit down. First of all, the washrooms for me were not to the mark which was not expected from a restaurant of this caliber, they were a bit smelly & also the hand dryer was not in working condition. Following up, the food for which the restaurant was well renowned, has lived up to its legacy. The Assamese food which people used to be proud of has changed a lot. As an Assamese myself, I can truly say that even the type of rice selected was good but the rice was overcooked. Also, the mutton was too spicy which could be no-no for a lot especially kids. Also, the mutton could have been cooked better since it was feeling more rubbery. This was all about my review. I don't have any intentions of demeaning the restaurant, instead I would feel proud that they take this review constructively & would work upon their flaws. Afterall, they are one of the many who can represent Assamese culture in a good way in front...

Staff is quite good with skilled factors. Service is fast and presentable. Behaviour is impressive . Place is super clean and hygenic. Range: It's a pocket friendly place with fantastic taste. It serves you best not making a hole in your pocket . What to order ? If you are in Gam's delicacy the best one to opt for is the thali consisting of joha rice, yellow dal, black dal, khar, vegetables and herbs, vegetables fry , Alu pitika and lastly the yummy kheer(paayoh) .. Now for non veg one should surely try for the best indeed pigeon with black pepper, chicken with til(sesame seeds) , fried duck😋 , mash pura and the pork bamboo shoot...
Overall a big 👍to this...
