When I entered the restaurant with my family, I was a little hesitant and apprehensive as the ambiance of the restaurant was not very inviting, rather it lookes like an old dilapidated tavern with dirty walls and ceiling and MTV HITZ was playing on a wall from a projector.
My wife, after reading nice reviews, chose Tai Singpho restaurant over hordes of typical north, south and copy cat Indian restaurants that have mushroomed in the city recently.
I thought of a cosy little ethnic restaurant with tribal old attires, get-ups and cosy atmosphere, it turned out to be a bar cum restaurant, not very welcoming for kids.
There were no other customers than us from 8 pm to 9 pm. We ordered Blue Lagoon mocktail for my daughter and few starters. First, the mocktail arrived, we parents tasted a sip each and the rest was devoured by the kid. It was good with french fries, which were made from in-house potatoes.
Then came the Naga Chicken Salad and Pork Stick with Zero fat, only red meat. Ummmaaaah! Both were devoid of any dry masalas and gallons of oil like other 100 restaurants out there. Both the meats tasted so different, delectable and opened new taste buds on my palate in bucal cavity (mouth).
We were already full to a reasonable depth. But were craving for more for the main course. By the time, few more guest arrived for drinks and Singpho thalis. We ordered traditional chicken curry for my daughter as she dislikes pork, one pork with bamboo shoots in Naga style and one bagged rice in Tora leaves (Tupola Bhat) with meshed boiled potatoes, green salad, dry fish & Bengal Gram Chutney. They were worth trying. They gave half tupula bhat free for my daughter. We could not finish it, packed it for home.
Overall, it was a good experience, but environment was not cosy. Everybody should try...
Read moreSo tonight we went there to have our dinner and ordered our food and in there, already two guy were there sitting on the table ordering something for them with beer!! Beer? As I felt it so odd because the restaurant name itself is Taii Singpho restaurant and there is nothing else after the name like Bar, open shop or etc. And few minutes later, one by one, more boys came and joined them, seemed like they are meeting their friends after so long and having dinner and started drinking beer. Well, it was all fine till there until they started making noise and it turned into some chaos as if it was some kind of road side Bar or Open Shop or Dhaba. Very disappointed. It's like "Bahar se Sharukh Khan aur andar se Shakti Kapoor". They just made the environment too uncomfortable for us as we had two ladies with us.
The service was fine but pardon me I have nothing more to give you any compliment neither on your foods because I did not like your foods, none of us did actually nor you had an extra washroom. We had to wait in the line until another one is not finished but there is a suggestion you should take on a serious note. Add a cute title after your beautiful restaurant name which you forgot to pick from the dictionary "Taii Singpho - Restaurant & Bar", perfect now.
And please make sure you make another room for a washroom so people don't need to wait in a row. Time is valuable, and peace is very...
Read moreI was there last night for dinner with my wife and her mother & brother. When i entered the restaurant the restaurant it was normal tow young boy had the beer and watching IPL. It was normal. We took a table in cornar, after that a group of 4 to 5 join them afte that thay gose wild paly loud music on ther phone, and taking to each other so loud the restaurant looks like a bar or road side dhaba. I feel embarrassing, because i was with in-laws. So my suggestion to the restaurant owner please provide some extra space for that kind of nonsense people. Taking to the food quality we had park thali and veg thali tha food quality not that good .it is ok ok. And plz add a wash basin outsid the wash room . Peaple are waiting outside the wash room to wash there hand after having food.
Over all my suggestion is don't go with your family to the restaurant otherwise you will...
