Chetan Thatte Idly and Chitranna — Restaurant in Bengaluru

Had visited with wife and kid. On Sunday I thought ther would be crowd and yes it was bit crowded by 8:15am. Ordered 3 Idly and 1 Chitranna for us.

They took the order and asked to wait till the token number would be called out. But they forgot to call out the token and started to serve the people who have been standing infront of them which we didn't like so one star lost.

The idly was hot and chetany was empty and they took time to refill the utensil which we were again stood waiting. So another half star lost.

Idly was served hot but by the time we started to eat it we might have lost out apatite due to Wait only. But with all consideration I started to eat and idly was soft and somewhat not so smooth happened inside the mouth as it was not dissolving with the chatney and needed a lot of biting to go on. Again lost half a star . They didn't serve any vadas but told they made homemade maddur vada which was again disappointed but it tast.

The maddur vada in maddur Tiffany's is the best for me, now comming to Chitranna hmmm..... Now what to say 🤔 never ever thought that this simple dish for them was challanging and didn't meet our expectations again. Now Chitranna is a simple dish which needs to be mixed well and here it was not mixed properly and lumps of rice was not broken and mixed properly. Again half a star lost

Over all I know it was a Sunday and they were lot of people who took parcel to home and one of the customer got replacement of rice twice and he didn't even eat it and left it on the compound wall and left murmuring.

I need to fix that foodblogger who visited this and even recommended this. They were even certificate by Kannada food enthusiast Mr. Sihikahi chandru sir but I think it was very long back he might have found it good at his time of visit.

For me I would give 2.5 stars to it. They need to get back to their basics. Or...

We visited Chetan Thatte Idly and Chitranna, conveniently located at 2651 6th A Main, 10th B Cross Road, Vijayanagar 2nd Stage, Hampi Nagar, RPC Layout in Vijayanagar, Bengaluru, right across from Hampinagar Park. It’s important to note that you shouldn’t drive your car there because the road is quite narrow, and at times, finding a spot for bike parking can also be a challenge.

The menu is simple, offering only three dishes: small idlies, Maddur vade, and lemon rice, also known as chitranna. Chetan, the owner, is a warm and friendly person who manages the shop, while his brother Rajesh runs Rajanna Tatte Idly, located directly opposite Hampinagar Library. Interestingly, both shops share the same kitchen found within the Chetan Idly establishment.

At Chetan Idly, you can enjoy delightful small idlies, while Rajanna Idly specializes in larger tatte idlies. Despite their unique offerings, you'll find the same items and flavors at both locations. For reference, at Chetan’s shop, two idlies are priced at 40 INR, half a portion of lemon rice costs 25 INR, and a full portion is 40 INR. A single piece of Maddur vade is priced at 10 INR.

Absolutely THE BEST THATTE IDLI IN THE WHOLE WORLD 🌎 Awesome healthy idly and lemon chitranna available. Even Masala vada is simply irresistible & really mouth watering 🤩 Spicy gatti chutney is the best thing with soft plufffy bisi idly and lemon chitranna . Open from around 8:30 to 11:30. Monday holiday. Some times if more customers we may have to wait. Yummy food but no seating arrangement. The prices are so reasonable. Best idly and spicy gatti chutney in the Vijayanagar locality. Perfect for your early morning idly cravings. It can get pretty crowded at times so be prepared to wait. For parcels it is adviced to carry containers along with you. They don't add unwanted thinks like tasting powder or lemon salt or artificial colours for the food & Here it is healthy and hygienic. In this place you get Soft and Fluffy Idly’s . Chutney is super spicy & good tasty, Earlier this place used to be Customer friendly, now it is absolutely not..
