Kavarna Restro Cafe — Restaurant in Bidhannagar

I don't really know if I have ever come across such a OVERRATED and WORST restaurant!! Wish I could deduct that last one star too.

I had huge expectations from this restro cafe as there were plenty of positive reviews here as well as on some renowned food oriented FB groups. So me along with my family decided to have lunch on this restro on 2nd April.

The service is just PATHETIC. Trust me when I say this. We entered the restro, there was no greeting. They didn't even offer a glass of water, which is a pretty common thing even in roadside dhaba! When asked for water, they just gave a 500ml bisleri for a group of 4 people. 👏

Then after 20 mins of waiting, we got our mocktails which was basically 3 sweet lime soda and a blue lagoon.

We ordered 3 sweet lime soda and a blue lagoon, 2 tandoori platter, 3 Chinese combo. We got the chicken soups which was included in the Chinese combo after 38 mins of waiting. The soup was nice, appetising. Infact, it was the only item which I liked. We got our tandoori platter starters after 35 mins of waiting. The taste was very average, nothing to boast of. Given, the fact there were such positive reviews claiming great taste of food, it wasn't the case actually.

Anyway, before ordering for the main course, I particularly asked the staff who was serving us, about how much should we order the Chinese combo for 4 people. He confidently claimed 3 was more than enough for 4 people. Mind you, all 4 were adults.

The main course was served after 1.5 hours. And there are reviews which claim them to be 'SWIFT'!!

Anyway, when served the main course, we're stunned to see the portion size. It was way too less even for 3 people. Let alone, be 4 people.

The taste was very underwhelming. The fried rice and the noodles tasted very bleak. The chicken item was okayish. Both the garlic chicken and the Manchurian. Oh also they actually 'FORGOT' to serve the chicken pakoras in the 3rd Chinese combo. How wonderful!!

All in all, I conclude saying that it is a very overrated restro. The service is very low standard, let alone the ambience. The staff behaviour is pathetic. The food tastes okayish. The only thing I liked was the chicken soup and the fries LOL.

Another thing I would want to mention is that they have pretty small layout and couldn't even allow more than 6 families.

Hence I am not gonna recommend this to anyone. Please do not visit it, having high expectations.

UTTER DISGUSTING

I recently ordered the Fish & Chips from Kavarna Restro Cafe through Zomato, and I must say, it was an extremely disappointing experience.

They offer two variants:

Basa Fish & Chips (2 pieces) – ₹260

Bhetki Fish & Chips (2 pieces) – ₹360

The menu clearly mentions “Bhetki” for the premium option, but as I had ordered ₹360: Bhetki Fish & Chips (2 pieces), what I received was definitely not Bhetki, not even fresh Basa, Katla, or Rui. The fish was stinky, had a bad aftertaste, and was clearly of poor and unidentified quality. It was not just a letdown – it felt like a blatant case of false advertising.

Even the French fries were soggy and tasteless, absolutely not the “crispy” fries they promised.

We were shocked at how little the restaurant seems to care about quality, authenticity, or customer satisfaction. It's clear they are more focused on cutting corners and misleading customers rather than building trust.

I feel I’ve completely wasted my money, and I definitely will never order from this place again.

A humble suggestion to the restaurant: If you want to survive in the food industry, focus on quality, honesty, and delivering what you promise. It’s the only way to retain customers – not through baseless claims and substandard food.

Based at Kestopur, this cafe offers a good variety of snacks and main course items to the customer. This is situated at a five minutes walking distance from the VIP Road, Kestopur stoppage. The cafe is well decorated and there is a sitting capacity of almost 40 people at a time. We ordered a Cafe latte, a fresh brewed coffee, a cold coffee, fish finger, chicken grilled sandwich and a chicken tikka kebab. The coffee was good but my friends didn't like the other two hot beverages. The fish fingers were made up of Basa fish and the sandwich was very disappointing since that was void of many essential staffings compared to the price. The kebab was also not very soft and was served after a long waiting time. They serve kebabs only after 7:30 pm. Overall the lead time of serving was fair apart from the kebab. The behaviour of the staff members was good and professional. They also serve rice and main course side dishes here. The cafe is moderately quiet and there is no live music played here.
