Samrat Restaurant — Restaurant in Delhi

I am writing this review as a highly dissatisfied customer(pls be aware I am only reviewing the taste and standard of food,not the ambience and other aspects of the restaurant). I have had read the reviews in Zomato before visiting and had already build up my expectations very high. This is the most disastrous food I have ever had in my life. Biryani was so colourful (some strange orange colour) that it literally made me feel that my plate had accidentally fallen into a pool of orange colour before getting served. Now, coming to the Chicken Sheekh Kebab Masala. It was mentioned in the menu card that it comes in a portion size of 4 pieces. When the plate arrived , it had some 20 small pieces (maybe they meant the 4 Sheekh Kebabs will be chopped into small pieces in the final preparation), drenched in some tasteless masala gravy which predominantly had only tomatoes. Being trained in Food & Nutrition, food for me is kind of a stress buster. And with this experience my so long craving for having a quality Biryani somewhere near North campus was quelled enough. It is a popular family restaurant right at the exit of GTB Nagar metro station. It's a classic family restaurant with minimal effort on interior decorations. You'll find all common North and South Indian and Indian-chinese dishes. The restaurant is not very cheap. However, their chefs are pretty good at their job. I've tried only vegetarian food here but I've heard praises of non-veg food here too. Hygiene is the worst aspect of this restaurant. With the heavy footfall they receive starting morning till late at night before they close, hygiene and decor are probably not their top priority. We as a student feom Delhi University have beutiful memories with this restaurant. This earing joint which may look shady feom outside, but actually a decent point to hang out with ur friends and family. The sitting arrangement is a bit congested but once you settle down you wont feel trapped or regret ur decision. The staff is polite and keep an eye whether u need anything. No matter u order a coffee or full fledge menu... they will not bug you evwry now and then. Coming to the food quality, they serve good quality food.
