Very bad service. We waited 30 minutes to get a table. The service was so slow that we waited for almost 2 hours for the food still we din get served. It was 4.30 and the waiters kept saying it will take 10-15 mins.. We were obviously very angry like all other customers present there. When we went to talk to the owner he had the audacity to say that it's not their fault and we waited because we wanted but the waiter kept saying the food will arrive in 10mins but it never did.. No manners how to speak to women.. The owner spoke very rudely to us and other women and at a point he got so aggressive tht he started firing bad words. Zero customer service.. No matter how good the food is but they don't respect the customers time. Along with us all the other customers were complaining yet they didnt take the responsibility. However the lady owner present there was very sweet and spoke nicely trying to calm us but not the male owner. Zero service and the owner should learn some manners. Never visiting this restaurant again. The owner has a way of replying sarcastically to negative comments. Well you'll should work on providing better serving n not wasting time giving sarcastic replies to negative comments. Accept your mistake and take responsibility. Thank you. Waiting for your sarcastic reply on my review like how we waited for you food to arrive for 2.30 hours.
Update: the owner replied saying we got aggressive and shouted on the staff. To be clear we asked the waiter if we will get the food or not. If not not then we are leaving and he kept saying 10mins.for which after and hour we told him again that our aunty is diabetic person and she can't wait so long (because of medication) . We very nicely told him to get at least one plate.we got angry because we had our family and serving lunch at 4.30pm doesn't justify your freshly cooked food. We could've just been told we won't get it and we would go peacefully. And the owner also replying saying that we won't get flower garlands. We never wanted your flowers we wanted food which we heard a lot about saying it's good that's the reason we visited.. Evn when we got the first thali after requesting it was good no doubt about food.. And as it is about being aggressive when your family is waiting for food to take their medicine and you can see them struggling would make anyone aggressive as we love them. We told this to the owner as well that we are leaving but again they kept saying please wait for some time.if the food wasn't ready or took long you'll could hve jus told instead of making us wait. And about season timing , I'm sure you'll were busy but making people wait till it's tea time for lunch is not acceptable. And about keeping 'patience' no sane person could keep patience till evening for lunch to arrive.and about coming early we waited for 30 mins to get a table. Maybe if you'll couldn't keep up with customer's you'll could just tell that. I guess we were too early today for dinner because we ordered lunch and it was closer to dinner time for our food being served. Telling a person to wait 10 mins and taking hours ( 2.5 hours to be exact) I think we had enough patience. And about giving one star for food when it's not served on time and everyone around us were waiting even the next table beside us who were waiting to feed their child and us seeing our aunt wait to take medication definitely spoiled our appetite. And the owner replied to my review saying that no one complained if thats true thn why are they follow up reviews addressing the same issue? Ani chod exaggerate kelna baba ami. We addressed what really faced. i hope I've covered every point what the owner pointed out in...
Read moreA pleasant, comfortable cottage-like location about a kilometre from the Margao Circle on the Colva Beach Road.
Ambience: There is an air-conditioned seating area, and an outside seating area which also includes a garden area with tables that can seat four people. Given the layout, combining tables for larger parties appeared difficult, and the air-conditioned room is compact. A cultural atmosphere with paintings and clay objects that highlight the local way of life. I enjoyed the old English melodies that were played, such as Gloria, Mandovi, and others, which brought back memories of Alfred Rose…that simply took the dining experience to a whole new level.
Hygiene: Although not very concerning, hygiene could definitely be improved. I strongly advise the proprietors to keep a strict eye on the cleanliness, appearance, and attire of the employees. The server's uniform had probably been left unwashed for days, and every time he came to our table, there was an overpowering, unbearable perspiration stench coming from his clothes, which turned us off. His hair was also unkempt. The service crew must be presentable, especially in the restaurant business, where cleanliness is crucial.
Parking: There is enough space to accommodate around 5 to 7 cars outside the restaurant. Parking can get challenging at busy hours.
Food: Except for the fried fish, every dish in the thali was served cold, which was my sole issue with the meal. Apart from that, the thalis were excellent in every way. Every dish's inherent flavour was preserved and wasn't overrun by masalas. It was the first non-spicy thali I had ever had in all my restaurant trips in Goa. Simply delicious, soul-satisfying meal. We ordered
Kokum Fiz Mocktail - the ideal refreshing drink on a hot day since it was sweet, tangy, and fizzy, and was garnished with a slice of lemon. Virgin Pina colada Mocktail – it had the perfect sweetness and creamy texture, with the ideal ratio of pineapple to coconut cream…fits in nicely with the tropical culture of Goa. French Fries – Crispy, crackling French fries seasoned with salt and pepper Chicken Crispy – Perfectly cooked chicken juliennes with the ideal balance of Indo-Chinese flavours. Bhatkar Thali – The thali included rice, a sanna (idli), a generous amount of fried Chonak (sea bass), fried prawns, pickle, Crab Sukha, Bhendi (okra), Tendli (Ivy Gourd) with grated coconut, Kismur (dried shrimp) chutney, Tisreo (clams/shellfish) sukha, Papad, Prawn curry and Vorn (a Mangalorean sweet dish prepared from Channa dal, Sabudhana (Sago), Jaggery, and Coconut milk). The portions were just right for one individual, and each dish was served in separate mini clay pots. Prawn Thali – The giant prawn portions were excellent. The gulab jamun was overly sweet and slightly undercooked. Veg Thali – Every vegetable option was delicious. The gulab jamun was overly sweet and undercooked.
Pricing: Everything was priced reasonably. The Bhatkar Thali is worth the price, although it's not as large as some reviews indicate—it's plenty for one person.
The taste of the cuisine, the price, and the music selection make this restaurant deserving of a five-star rating despite the few issues. Without a doubt, I would return time and time again.
Here's another eatery that's making South Goa famous....
