I had visted this place almost 5 to 6 years ago and that time the meals alongwith the specisl fish served was awesome and taste good with just 3 staff, but i happened to visit this place on this Friday as my relatives wanted to have a lunch and they had previously visited this joint so based on the hype on-line again went to eat, we ordered Special Modso Thali 2 and Special Chonak Thali 1. Also we ordered separately prawns rava fry as side dish. Based on the price paid the serving in the thali is average the fish fillet was very thinly cut as if double folded tissue paper, the vegetable was simple nothing special about it, the curry given in normal other places in special thali curry is either made of prawns or modso head or chonok head but to up utter surprise the fish curry was mackerel which is regular thali item. The biggest disappointment was that of the kismoor which had only onions and some veggies with a flavor of dry prawns only there is hardly any dry prawns or galmo in the kismoor. Also there is no sweet dish or any clams tisreo dishes in special thali. So considering all the above the price paid is not justified for the special thali. The prawns rava fried were as well average size total 8 pcs so can't say much. We ordered Kokum Soda as beverage which was refreshing drink. Overall verdict for the price what is being charged the special thali is not worth. The place is just over hyped created by the tourists visiting goa and they will never understand the actual taste of goan food or special thali serving they have more staff now but they compromised on the portions and the quantity. There are more alternative joint in south goa or in the margao city as well in villages which offers a better special thali served with good bigger piece of fish choices and more better choices. This restaurants is only overhyped and overpriced, for the tourists as promoted on Google maps. As they saying goes by sometimes things which are popular doesn't need to be the best value for price or worthy. Maybe the owners need to revise menu and their special thali offering and try to get back taste of what was being offered...

Read more"We visited "Mother Recipes" for both breakfast and lunch, situated conveniently on the main Varca-Margao road near Varca and Benaulim. It's a delightful spot offering authentic Goan homemade food with a genuine local vibe and ample roadside parking.
Unlike many tourist spots with high prices, "Mother Recipes" lives up to its name with homemade, healthy, and very affordable meals. We were pleasantly surprised by the value and serviceâwhere else can you negotiate prices for such quality?
For breakfast, we savoured dosa, aloo paratha, lemon tea, and coffee, all for just Rs 140. During lunch the next day, we indulged in their authentic Kingfish Thali and veg thali (they have dedicated kitchen for vegetarian cooking, so there's no need to hesitate when opting for vegetarian food ) , complemented by a refreshing Kokum soda and delightful desserts, all under Rs 500 for two.
I rarely give a place 5 stars, but for its exceptional value, authentic flavours, and overall experience, "Mother Recipes" deserves it. Highly recommended for anyone traveling to South Goa. Note that they only serve breakfast and lunch until 4:30 PM, so plan your visit accordingly.
While their name on Google is "Mother Recipes," the signboard at the location reads "Home Made Food - Eat Homemade healthy food," ensuring you find the right...
