"We visited "Mother Recipes" for both breakfast and lunch, situated conveniently on the main Varca-Margao road near Varca and Benaulim. It's a delightful spot offering authentic Goan homemade food with a genuine local vibe and ample roadside parking. Unlike many tourist spots with high prices, "Mother Recipes" lives up to its name with homemade, healthy, and very affordable meals. We were pleasantly surprised by the value and service—where else can you negotiate prices for such quality? For breakfast, we savoured dosa, aloo paratha, lemon tea, and coffee, all for just Rs 140. During lunch the next day, we indulged in their authentic Kingfish Thali and veg thali (they have dedicated kitchen for vegetarian cooking, so there's no need to hesitate when opting for vegetarian food ) , complemented by a refreshing Kokum soda and delightful desserts, all under Rs 500 for two. I rarely give a place 5 stars, but for its exceptional value, authentic flavours, and overall experience, "Mother Recipes" deserves it. Highly recommended for anyone traveling to South Goa. Note that they only serve breakfast and lunch until 4:30 PM, so plan your visit accordingly. While their name on Google is "Mother Recipes," the signboard at the location reads "Home Made Food - Eat Homemade healthy food," ensuring you find the right spot easily."

Since I have returned to my hometown from a decently long holiday in Goa, the first thing that comes to my mind is this little place. Out of all other fancy places we have been there, this has carved a fixed place in my heart. This little eatery has been operational for the last 2 years or so and attracts a huge number of locals and tourists. The authentic Goan taste of everything you can order from the menu makes everyone visit the place more than once. During our stay, we tried breakfasts and lunches here almost daily. And the best part is, it is so pocket friendly. We spent 200 bucks for such a sumptuous and nutritious breakfast. We ate till we felt absolutely full and crawled to the counter to pay, just to find out that the bill was never more than 200 or so. There's plenty of parking available. You might want to wait for a stable since not too many tables are there. But waiting is even wonderful, because you keep craving more given that the aroma from the kitchen keeps hitting you with every breeze that comes along. People randomly sit with others on their table also. Socializing with the locals, is the best thing you can do over a Goan King fish thali here. Must try. I can't recommend this place more. It's so perfect. It's relatively closer to Varca bdw.

Real homemade Goan food I have wait to put this review for six months as the fish curry has become even better as after the monsoon fresh fish is available : I order red boiled rice for me it's a choice you can make and the food is economical especially me as a seasoned only residents and the serve it hot they add kokum water need to ask : dried prawn kosmur and they have tisrio my favourite : Goan fish curry rice white or red 120 rs , Mackerel 130 : 200 Kingfish and veg for 100 rs the family that servers are very helpful and friendly best time is 12:00 to 3:00 pm they serve breakfast too : so if you are hungry and passing during lunch time grab a lunch I prefer to eat at home : they have many dishes just ask them as mostly depends on day to day bases/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////: Edited review .........🙄🙄🙄🙄 After a month ....... Nov 11 2020 so this place now is jammed pack between 12:30 to 2:30 as you can see everyday by the amount of cars parked by the road but the quality of the meals have dropped the fried fish now are either salty or unsalted and the owner now charges an additional charge for kokum water which is free all over Goa with the fish thali .....it's so sad , Look fame has gone to their head ... disappointed .So I have changed my 4 🌟 to 2 and have found a new place for my daily Goan fish thali meals .

This Goan family-run hotel has gained a reputation for its authentic seafood dishes. Although the decor is simple, its consistent full occupancy is a testament to its popularity. Be prepared for a wait during lunchtime due to its high demand. It's worth noting that this establishment primarily focuses on non-vegetarian meals, offering limited options for vegetarians. The bimbli pickle was the hughlight of the thali for me. Its tangy and flavorful taste added a delightful twist to the meal. If you value genuine experiences and aren't concerned about elaborate ambiance, this place comes highly recommended. The emphasis here is on great food and prompt service, rather than extravagant decorations. If you're seeking a restaurant that serves homemade-style dishes and can overlook superficial aspects, this is a must-visit spot. The bustling atmosphere further attests to its popularity and standing. With its superb Goan cuisine, reasonable prices, and lively ambiance, this restaurant is a must-try for anyone seeking a delightful Goan meal experience.

Search for an authentic local Goan food ended here. I had an amazing dining experience at "Mother Recipes" in South, Benaulim. After hearing recommendations from locals and observing the crowd outside, it was clear that this simple village-style restaurant was special. We ordered a variety of dishes, including the Goan King fish Thali, Goan Prawns Thali, extra rice, 2 Crab Roasts, Mudoshi fry plate, and a refreshing Kokum Juice. Every item exceeded our expectations. The freshness of the fish was remarkable, and the portion sizes were generous. The Mudoshi fish plate had around 7 to 8 fishes, and the Crab Roast was served in not less than 6 to 7 portions. What's even more remarkable is that all of this cost us only around Rs 1000 for 3 adults and 1 child. "Mother Recipe" is a hidden gem offering authentic Goan cuisine at affordable prices, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a taste of Goa's local flavors.

The best Goan food I have had in long time. Don’t be sceptical by looking at the restaurant setup as it doesn’t have the ambience that you could find in any fine dining restaurants. But if you are a real food enthusiast (especially in Sea Food) then you should seriously consider this restaurant. It’s small place in the inner street of Margao (South Goa). Now coming to the food that I ordered : 1. Modso Rava Fry : 5/5 2. King Fish Thali : 4/5 3. Lepo Rava Fry : 5/5 4. Veg Thali : 3.5/5 5. Solkadhi (special order not in menu) : 4/5 6. Kokum Soda : 5/5 Parking wise, there isn’t enough space for 4 wheelers but if you are on two wheeler you may get some space as shown in the photo. Overall I totally liked this restaurant and whenever I visit Goa I will try to come here and suggest everyone to visit this for sea food.
