Ok, first things first. I am a North Indian who is in love with Cabo De Rama and has been going there for the past 5 years every time I have taken a trip to Goa. Pinto Bar and Restaurant was always there, but was managed shabbily earlier. So, we used to just get ice-creams and Water bottles from there.
This time around when I took a trip to Cabo, by the time we reached there me and my wife were famished and decided to give Pinto a try instead of the other fancy places that fall in the way as its right next to the fort. When we reached there we were greeted by a cheerful guy, Jovito. I hadn't seen him before so enquired and he told me that his family owned the place but it was managed by someone else earlier. He himself is in merchant navy and was here on sabbatical due to Corona and that now he and his mother were managing the place.
We ordered for a fish fry (Pomfret or Mackerel I forgot) and I asked him can he add masala to it because I find rava fry too bland. He happily obliged. Next, we ordered for a chilli chicken and Fish ambotik, my absolute favorite with a beer. The food took a lot of time to come, which Jovito told me later was because it was only his mom and him cooking in the kitchen. Never mind the wait, when the food came it was absolutely bloody delicious! I will go as far as to say it was the best Ambotik I had ever tried.
Finally, when the bill came I was pleasantly surprised that it was a reasonable sum unlike other Goan restaurants where you are mostly overcharged for fish. Jovito also gave us a discount on some snack or rice which I don't remember, but I tried to make up for it by leaving a tip.
All-in-all, it was an absolute revelation that a place which a lot of people would have ignored had such an amazing food. On top of it, the hospitality, which is bad even at even the best restaurants in Goa was great. If any of you guys are reading this, please go to Pinto (with some time in hand) and request them that the food be made by Jovito's mom or under her supervision, I promise you, you will be...
Read moreBeing the only restaurant in front of the Cabo de Rama fort, this place gets huge amount of footfall and taking advantage of that, they get by with horrendous service and below par food quality. The menu is decent, the execution is horrible. The service is slow. We ordered for simple goan thalis, chicken and fish. It took about 45 mins to arrive. We got so bored that we ordered for chicken wings, chciken 65 arrived, that too before the thalis. The chciken 65 pieces had bones in them and neck pieces. You do not put neck pieces in a restaurant. The thalis that arrived were cold. The fish fried was fine, but the fish curry was again bad. The pieces were absolutely horrible taking into consideration that we are paying for the food. The chciken curry had horrible pieces and was cold. We were motivated enough to finish all the food. This place is fine only for quick snacks like ice...
Read moreOur regular stop whenever we visit Cabo de Rama. Very lively place. Full of mirth and laughter all around you. Attentive and respectful staff. Great place for family. The aroma of the place is tantalising especially in the off season (July-September). The sea food served here is very fresh especially the calamari. Our favourite thing here is having beer with seafood snacks. The Fenny served here is a must to try (Just remember to add some sprite before you gulp the first shot). Prices are very reasonable. You’ll never feel like leaving the place after you settle down relaxed with friends and family. The owners are nice people and always greet you well and you may always end up in a great conversation with them. If you are anywhere near Canacona and Palolem beach, never miss your exciting bike ride to Cabo de Rama followed by a treat to...
