We are local Goans and have visited this place 3 to 4 times before. On our most recent visit yesterday, we had a very disappointing experience. The establishment does not have a menu, so the owner verbally listed the available fish. Unfortunately, we didn’t ask for prices in advance, assuming reasonable rates based on our past visits and the modest setting.

We were shocked when the bill arrived — we were charged ₹450 per ladyfish. We had ordered 3 plates, totaling ₹2700 just for the fish, which was definitely overpriced and not worth that amount. The owner was extremely arrogant and rude when we questioned the pricing. It felt like he took advantage of the fact that prices were not disclosed beforehand.

While the food is good, it certainly does not justify the steep pricing, especially given the basic ambiance. It’s very disappointing to feel taken advantage of in our own hometown.

This place presents itself as a “local” joint, but the pricing is on par with, if not higher than, a five-star restaurant.

Our dinner experience here last night was incredibly disappointing. This local spot has no menu, so you have to ask about available dishes. Unfortunately, we made the mistake of ordering three plates of ladyfish without confirming the price. The owner exploited this, charging an exorbitant ₹900 per plate for just two small fish, bringing our total for that dish alone to ₹2,700. It felt like a blatant scam.

Beyond the price gouging, the owners were incredibly rude and seemed to care little about customer service. They handed us a handwritten bill that was almost impossible to understand, and then created a fuss, demanding cash payment only. In an age with so many easy UPI options, their insistence on cash was baffling, especially since we clearly stated we didn't have any on us. Eventually, a relative had to be woken up just to give us a UPI number so we could pay.

If you are looking out to enjoying (absolutely) fresh Fish & Seafood, head to Star. A very basic set up, having both indoors & outdoors seating. No veg food, no meats (no chicken, etc) served here. Just come here to enjoy the very reasonably priced Fish, Seafood & drinks. During season enjoy the mussels (nov- jan), & Oysters (april- may). Been visiting this 75 yo 3rd generation restaurant, for the past 37 years, and it has not lost its Charm. Starters: Alongwith our drinks, we ordered the seasonal "Lady fish"(mudyosho) @Rs 700 & Prawns rava fried @Rs 400- their must order dish, available throughout the year. They also serve a (basic) fish thali, v reasonably priced, with additional rice & curry FoC. The good part about this place is that they do not over-fry the items, so no crispy / Burnt dishes (as is common with the "Kuttikar restaurant" near by).
