Amazing ambience, on 13th October when the temperature is 33 it was very cool up here. The food is just out of this world. The Chef Mr. Qureshi is a wizard with the nawabi spices. Even though the menu was limited when it comes to vegetarian options,he was able to give use vegans arguably the best veganized food in Surat. A mark of a true chef and real good quality ingredients is when the food still is mouthwatering without the need to add butter cheese or ghee. Bringing out the real nawabi experience in a vegetarian /vegan food is art. The service overall was excellent star quality something rare in Surat. The now closed Taj Gateway left a lot desired when it came to service and still leaves a bad taste in my mouth in Surat. I can say with the service level at Charcoal (I can't speak for the rest of the hotel as I had been a few months back to bistro and they first refused to make me fries from fresh potato) real 5 star fine dining has finally arrived to Surat. Mahendra Singh was kind enough to get us tofu and mushrooms to make the dishes vegan for us. The boys who waited by our table also were so kind and everyone was genuinely pleased to serve us. If you know what I mean it's not just formality but genuineness in their behavior and service that is rare. Everyone from Mr Mahendra to Chef Qureshi and Sous chef Biswajit came to our table to invite use back and promised to make us vegan options the next time with chaap and cashew and peanut paste.
