Read moreKhathiyawadi cuisine is a vibrant representation of Gujarat's rich culinary heritage, known for its bold flavors, earthy ingredients, and traditional cooking techniques. Rooted in simplicity, this cuisine reflects the agricultural lifestyle of the region and offers a delightful blend of sweet, spicy, and tangy flavors.
Staples like bajra roti (millet bread), rotla, and kadhi pair beautifully with spicy side dishes like sev tameta nu shaak (tomato curry with crunchy sev), ringan no olo (smoked eggplant mash), and lasaniya bateta (garlic-flavored potatoes). The use of buttermilk, ghee, and yogurt adds richness, while an array of spices like mustard seeds, turmeric, and red chili powder create depth.
What sets Khathiyawadi food apart is its wholesome, rustic appeal. Dishes like undhiyu, a slow-cooked mixed vegetable medley, showcase the region’s love for fresh produce. Street foods such as dhokla, khandvi, and fafda-jalebi reflect the Gujarati penchant for snacks that are both filling and flavorful.
The cuisine's balance is remarkable – sweetness from jaggery often tempers the heat of chilies, while the tang of raw mangoes or lemon enhances every bite. Whether you're enjoying a home-cooked meal or dining at a Khathiyawadi restaurant, the experience is always comforting and satisfying. It's a must-try for food lovers who enjoy authentic,...
Read moreWorst food, worst taste. Not the real kathiya wadi.... Even Worst services and behaviour of Order Bookers and staff. If there's an option for MINUS Rating, I would have done the minus rating for Liliwadi.
We first order for Tomato and Manchow soup and found Grasshopper (titighodo) in Tomato shop. Even we complained the order booker for the same and you can see... he has even not any serious expression on his face, He just asked the waiter to collect the soup bowl from the table, not even any apologization for such a rubbis on his face, like "aavu to thaya kare, vandho nai".....
Waste of Money and time. And even if you are there at a late, around 10 PM and if it is their time to shut the restaurant they will ask you for hurry and constantly asking for "have kai mangavu che" "or kuch chahiye" bla bla bla.... "are bhai, khane to do pehle hame...."
I will recommand to all of you who read this review, please try another restaurant instead of Liliwadi. Even you will get the warm welcome from even smaller restaurants compare to this one and behaviour of the staff may find good too in other restaurants.
I will advice to the management of Liliwadi to take a serious note for this to get a good business.... and first train all your...
