My First Visit to Chicken Inn at Mega Mall, Gurugram
Stepping into Chicken Inn at Mega Mall felt like walking into a restaurant steeped in history, yet brimming with contemporary charm. I had read about its origins—how Shri Asanand Arora, at just 22 years old in 1960, transformed a humble spot in Pandara Road Market into a culinary haven. What began with his legendary Fish Tikka and Burra Kebabs grew into a legacy passed down through generations. Now, the third generation of the Arora family continues to honor the traditions that have made Chicken Inn an icon, serving North Indian, Mughlai, and Chinese delights. With such a story behind it, I knew I was in for a treat.
Beverages to Start To begin, I ordered both the Lemon Iced Tea and Peach Iced Tea, curious to see which one would complement the rich dishes to come. The Lemon Iced Tea was refreshing with just the right citrusy punch, while the Peach Iced Tea offered a sweet, mellow taste—perfect to cool off before diving into the appetizers.
Appetizers: A Blend of Indian and Chinese Flavors We started with the Indian section, indulging in Fish Tikka and Mutton Seekh Kebab. The Fish Tikka was perfectly charred, with a subtle smokiness that lingered pleasantly, while the Mutton Seekh Kebab was juicy and spiced just right, making each bite an explosion of flavors.
For a Chinese twist, we tried the Chilli Chicken. The crispy chicken pieces coated in a sticky, spicy sauce provided a satisfying contrast to the more traditional Indian starters. It was clear that Chicken Inn’s expertise extended beyond Indian cuisine—something I hadn’t expected, but thoroughly enjoyed.
Mains: Signature Dishes that Live Up to the Legacy The Butter Chicken was everything I had hoped for and more. The gravy was rich, creamy, and packed with that signature tang of tomatoes, which paired beautifully with butter-soaked naan. I can see why this dish has become an award-winning favorite over the years.
Next, I tried Laal Maas, the fiery Rajasthani mutton curry. It was bold and aromatic, with the heat gradually building with each bite. The tender meat melted in my mouth, and though it was on the spicier side, I couldn’t stop myself from reaching for another spoonful.
Sweet Endings: A Perfect Finish For dessert, I opted for two classics—Kheer and Fruit Cream. The Kheer was creamy and delicately flavored with cardamom, offering just the right amount of sweetness. The Fruit Cream, on the other hand, was a light, refreshing dessert with chunks of fresh fruit enveloped in chilled cream—a perfect way to end the meal.
Final Thoughts Chicken Inn at Mega Mall is not just a restaurant—it’s a journey through decades of culinary expertise. From its humble beginnings on Pandara Road to the modern-day experience in Gurugram, the passion and dedication behind every dish are evident. Whether you're in the mood for hearty North Indian flavors, fiery Mughlai curries, or even Chinese comfort food, Chicken Inn delivers.
With its deep-rooted history and exceptional food, this first visit won’t be my last. I look forward to returning soon—perhaps next time for more Butter Chicken and to explore their other...

Read more‘The customer is always right in matters of taste’ I have never been enraged enough to give a review but there’s only so much a person can handle. Me writing this review is a testimony of that one restaurant crossing the threshold of the torture on my palate. It’s not just the food, they say that ‘a sweet person might as well give you poison and you might ingest it happily’ but the hospitality I experienced last night, was beyond forgiveness. As a Punjabi, I’m very passionate about my gravies, so someone serving a curry resembling water is where I draw the line. Above that, the rudest manager ever. when you enter this industry of hotels and restaurants, you should not start blaming the customer and accuse them for baseless things. All in all, go at your own risk. I’ll avoid going, but if you associate this restaurant with happy memories, do go and stand by your own beliefs. PS: Shoutout to the server for our table, you did nothing wrong, and thank you for serving us...
