Under the Neem is the most exotic, offbeat and insta worthy restaurant in Delhi NCR and I can proudly say that I have been one of the first patrons who got to experience this luxurious destination dishing out the best organic food.
This review is coming after three visits over a period of 8 months. Will try to be as candid as possible!
⭐The Ambience is breathtaking! The interiors are done while keeping every detail in mind! Large French windows keep the cafe well lit and that's what I love about nature friendly places. From the crockery to the plush chairs, everything's mesmerising and beautiful! It's very spacious and can accommodate plenty of guests at a time.
The outdoor seating is very unconventional and fun! There's a to and fro swing turned into a table, a kitchen garden where you can relax and have a meal on a Charpoy, a few tables under the neem tree if you don't want to bake in the sun but still love the outdoor feel! There's a giant Chess board on the floor which we absolutely loved!
⭐ Best time to visit - Winters (Afternoons)
🔥 Food There's not even a single dish that we tried on all three visits that turned out to be less than perfect or average. So I am gonna pen down everything that we devoured and anything that I remember about them!
What's worth mentioning here is that most of their ingredients are grown in the backyard kitchen! Hygienic, scrumptious and organic food. That's what hooked me to Under the Neem!
🔥Penne Alfredo Pasta - Had this on all three visits! Loaded with home grown veggies, garnished with beautiful edible petals of flowers they grow! Must Have!
🔥 Ab ke Saawan Aise Barse - A platter of Paneer Tikka, Kathal tikki, corn and beg Seekh! I devoured this all alone!
🔥 Dil se Re - an assortment of Chaat - Golgappa, Palak Patta Chaat and Millet Papdi Chaat! Everything was so nutritious that it didn't even feel like a cheat meal! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
🔥 The North Indian Platter consisting of Dal Makhani (cooked without the calorie dense cream and butter), Paneer tossed in bell peppers, onions, tomatoes and fresh Indian breads! You'll feel like everything has been cooked at home!
🔥 Vegetable broth with salad
This is what I really love about UTN! Even if you spend the weekend at Karma Chalets, you can have all the meals here, without any guilt as everything's organic and fresh.
Had a lot of other stuff as well including sandwiches, fries and some exotoc teas that they serve.
🔥🔥 If you're a tea lover, dive into the Artisanal Himalayan Tea menu!
⭐ The service at this nature friendly restaurant needs to be mentioned! The stewards are extremely courteous and polite. As I mentioned, we took long walks in the property, our meals lasted for hours and the staff was not at all in any kind of rush. In fact, they insisted us to play some games and have the most of our time. It's their pleasant attitude that brings me back...
Read moreWhile food was okayish and atmosphere was good, service was extremely unprofessional and disappointing. For the kind of prices they have, you'd expect a good 5 star restaurant experience when it comes to service, however, it was just the opposite.
Firstly, the person catering to our table gave us 1 menu on a 7 member table, which naturally made it inconvenient to look through the menu.
Secondly, on asking questions about items in the menu, the person said that the menu was new and hence, he wasn't aware.
Thirdly, on requesting for a soup for a kid (all we requested was to add sweet corn), instant response was 'No, not possible'. We then requested him to discuss with the chef and the chef agreed. Then, we requested for Biryani and were discussing that the person who had to consume was not comfortable with extremely spicy Biryani so they asked for less spicy. I believe the person taking our order misheard and said, "No, not spicy is not possible. Only less or medium spicy is possible"
Such strong No's were discouraging and disappointing. And their dishes are for 900 each and beverages are 400 each. There's some level of service one would hope to receive.
We instantly gave feedback politely to the person catering to our table and said we have come for a birthday celebration and for an experience. It will be nice if they can say no a little politely.
At the time of payment , I had made a booking on Swiggy and it was showing limited slots - 25% offer. However, at the time of payment, that offer wasn't reflecting so I went to check with the manager of the restaurant. He could have just clarified that this is applicable for breakfast hours and not for the rest of the day. However, he said no you need to make a booking for the offer. I said we did have a booking and then he told me to show him how I made the booking. When I did the process, at the final page, it said 'Standard offer' or something to which, the manager rudely said 'Kaha hai offer? Dikh raha hai kya? Likha hai standard matlab offer nahi hai'
I lost it by this time and instantly shouted that this was no way of talking and then I told him I wanted to speak to the manager. He said 'I am the manager' to which I said 'Is there no one senior to you in the property?'
His manager then came and apologized and then offered to serve coffee to make it up to us. The damage was however done and hence, we chose to leave.
It was a birthday celebration and was ruined. In fact, irrespective, when you are charging a bomb, at least maintain a certain experience and service. How does it add up having 5 star prices and a 2 star service?
Would strongly recommend not visiting this place. there are many other options in Gurgaon who will offer a...
