From Mohali to Panchkula: @littleidli.india Journey of Flavor Continues! 🌟"
Review: Little Idli has undeniably become synonymous with authentic South Indian flavours in the bustling cities of Mohali and Chandigarh. Now, with its second outlet gracing the streets of Panchkula, it's evident that its culinary prowess has won over yet another locality.
Regardless of the rush of patrons, Little Idli is its ability to maintain consistency in taste, their dishes always exude the same mouthwatering flavours that keep drawing crowds back for more. As I've explored their menu extensively, allow me to share my top five recommendations:
Ghee Podi Masala Dosa (Bangalore Style): This dosa is a celebration of flavours with its crisp texture, smeared with ghee and sprinkled with aromatic podi. The masala filling inside is perfectly spiced, creating a harmonious blend that tantalizes the taste buds.
Rava Masala Dosa: Little Idli elevates the traditional dosa by incorporating rava, resulting in a dosa with a unique texture and taste. Crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, it's generously filled with savoury potato masala, making it a must-try for dosa enthusiasts.
Thatte Idli: A speciality from Karnataka, the thatte idli at Little Idli is nothing short of divine. These large, plate-sized idlis are incredibly soft and fluffy, served with an array of chutneys and sambar that complement their mild flavour perfectly.
Rava Kesari (Dessert): For those with a sweet tooth, the Rava Kesari is a heavenly conclusion to any meal at Little Idli. This semolina-based dessert is infused with fragrant cardamom and garnished with nuts, providing a satisfyingly sweet note to end your culinary journey.
Filter Coffee: No South Indian meal is complete without a steaming cup of filter coffee, and Little Idli does justice to this traditional beverage. Served in authentic steel tumblers, their filter coffee boasts a rich aroma and bold flavour that will transport you straight to the streets of South India.

Read moreI am an avid lover of south indian food and was excited to try this restaurant. We ordered ghee masala dosa and it was the second most disappointing masala dosa (after anupam sweets' dosa), I have ever had.
The dosa was thick and overcooked. The mashed masala potatoes inside were uncooked and laced with a powdery substance which was very disgusting. The coconut chutney did not have any taste of coconut and was slimy. The server randomly provided another chutney (red one) with one dosa which was still better but we could not get more of that as the server disappeared after that. There were two sambhar's with each dosa, one was too tangily sweet, on the brink of being called golgappa water while the other one was tasteless, more of like sick man's food. On top of all this, we had to wait a long time for the bill, which surprisingly had dishes we did not order. Upon confrontation, the server tried to ignore the matter and kept standing with the bill. After another 5 minutes, my wife, who is mostly very polite , had to raise her eyebrows at him, which sent him rushing to the manager for correction. Right after that, the same server came back and picked up the mouth freshener, even though we had not had a bite of it. While we requested him to keep it back, he said he had 'customers' waiting, as if we were being fed for for free. We informed about the incident to the billing manager(owner), which he bluntly brushed off saying they just had one cup of mouth freshener for the entire restaurent !! The AC was ineffective and me and kids kept sweating all the time. The kids did not finish their dosa, a first in their lifetime!
I hope I have summed up the experience above in the most detailed manner I can. Obviously, I will not be going again and would advise...
Read moreLittle Idli is a newly opened place in Sector 14 Panchkula serving authentic South Indian delicacies. They already have a well running outlet in Mohali and I went to try it out with my friends. The place is absolutely worth the hype. Here is what all I tried —
• Bangalore Ghee Podi Idli 5/5 — Fluffy and Soft thatte idli huge in size and can be shared by 2/3 people as a snack. Their podi masala is outstanding and flavour the idli along with Desi ghee. They serve it with rasam, sambar, coconut and peanut chutney. Must try!
• Ghee Podi Masala Dosa 5/5— Crisp dosa cooked in generous amount of ghee. The masala was absolutely delicious and flavourful along with the inner crust lined with podi. They serve it with rasam, sambar, coconut and peanut chutney.
• Ghee Rava Masala Dosa 5/5— Extremely crispy rava dosa. May look small at first but that's only because it is folded twice. Their ghee dosas are quite filling and heavy on the stomach so don't be fooled if the size appears to be small. They serve it with sambar, chutneys and a vegetable and coconut curry (I cannot recall the name) but it is a must try as well.
• Bise Bille Bhat 5/5— It is rice with masala dal tadka. It has a South Indian flavor to it and is quite different from the dal rice we make at home. You may try if you like homely food that is delicious and healthy yet not too heavy on the stomach.
• Dahi Vada 5/5— The dahi was thick and sweetness was apt. The flavour was perfect. It serves 2-4 people.
• Filter Coffee 5/5— Well balanced and served in pittal utencils. They'll make it sugar-free if you want.
Ambience — 5/5 Service — 5/5 ✓ Absolutely a family place and perfect for brunches. The place is kid-friendly. ✓ Flavours are well balanced and nothing is bland or too spicy. ✓ Service is promot and staff...
