THEMIS BARBECUE HOUSE,PANIPAT — Restaurant in Haryana

Mr. Naveen Chandra, the so called uneducated GM of this establishment is the reason for this poor review. He mistreats his staff and lacks in customer service skills. When you enter, you will be greeted by this ill mannered human being Naveen Chandra in his broken English wearing his only beige suit, bragging he is from Delhi, he has run many successful ventures, then he starts complaining about Panipat being small town, and customers have a small town mentality. As if people are obligated to listen to him during dinner. Here are some of his claims :

Claims he has paid 1lakh rupees for social media reviews: When customers complain about lack of hygiene at Themis Panipat and suggest him to control his ego and attitude, he threatens them back.

Claims he has decades of years of experience under his belt, however within a few minutes any well travelled well travelled customer would be able to look past his shallow claims about being a quality manager.

Claims about fresh organic food : The brand claims use of fresh ingredients, organic meat, poultry, chicken, seafood. But the fact is most of it is frozen, tastes bitter and undercooked a lot of times. Organic is just a term they used to market, there is nothing organic about this place. There's a great deal of possibility that they might be serving ham, and beef in disguise of redmeat without even informing customers. Sea food especially prawns are stale, old and frozen, we do not live anywhere near sea shore. Their raw food are delivered once a week from Delhi, then prepared, frozen and old reheated food is served to customers to save cost while they overcharge customer.

He serves liquor at his premises without a liquor license. He claims as GM that license has been applied but there is no proof, yet it served, so may be his bragging of contacts at Panipat municipal corporation is paying him off. I hope administration looks in to it.

It was our second visit, first visit was Awful but we intentionally visited again expecting earlier was the reopening time post covid but this place doesn’t worth the money or time. Starting with entry- You will see this place with no parking available. Although they claim to have valet parking, but no one is there to entertain you due to it’s distance from the road. There is no one at Valet desk and you are forced to park yourself at random places. I parked my car around 800 meters away and walked back in 44 degrees to reach there. Next- this is on 2nd floor and lift was found not working and there was no assistance available. The dining space was very hot, requested 3-4 times for temperature adjustments. Ambience- Nicely lit, but unnecessarily loud. Live music was on but it was too loud that we were not able to speak to each other. Food varieties- There were many options available Food quality- It was totally not upto the mark. Poorly prepared. Not a single option which I could say was tasty. Crispy corns were too salty, Chats were not well prepared and too watery. Moong dal halwa was not moong dal halwa but a mixture of some flours and little moong. I never had something like this. Vegetable kebabs were having foul smell. In Main course - Kadhi pakora was too salted, Chana was on standards of road side stalls. I couldn’t had more than this. Tried some gulabjamuns but those were also grainy textured and cold from inside.

We were 4 people and the amount which we paid could have given much better experience if we had chosen better place. The staff was courteous initially but later they stopped recognizing us and even after multiple requests they were not helpful. The floor manager was not helpful when I asked about potential party arrangements for my daughter’s birthday and he told me to send booking manager to our table. However booking manager who was sitting there chose to ignore us even when floor manager told him about our requirements. Food is good, menu for buffet is worth it for the price. Do accommodate special requests (like no onion garlic food)

Some improvements needed

1. live counter staff needs to be a bit polite. ( if they are not happy working for you, ask them the issue and resolve it else change the live counter staff)
2. more coordination needed between staff. ( message conveyed to any staff member is not circulated between the whole team )
3. 1 table should have a same server. ( 3 tables should be given 1 server and helper , this will improve coordination)
4. increase speed of serving with some standard serving rules( what i mean is that on my table , i was served with all the starters but, dish 1 came at 6:45 , but the dish 5(pineapple) for the first time was served at 7:40pm &&& dimsums were served at 8:00pm while i started main course…. Which doesn’t makes sense to me …. All starters should be served Atleast once in 30mins of dining. )
5. staff not conveying that water bottle will be charged. ( should only do when they have a bottle in hand and are putting on table, not before coz it sounds rude)

While posting this review, i took account of a small party/gathering happening.
