Cafe Olio in Kasauli turned out to be one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve had in recent times. Despite the hype and location, the service and overall experience left a lot to be desired.
To begin with, the service was painfully slow and chaotic. It took an unusually long time for the food to be served, and the staff appeared confused and overwhelmed. Multiple tables, including ours, were visibly frustrated, with guests repeatedly reminding the staff about their pending orders. It felt like they were understaffed or simply not trained to handle even a moderate crowd.
The lack of knowledge about the food and its description is alarming. We ordered Grilled Chicken with Red Wine Sauce, which was supposed to be a chicken breast stuffed with cheese and herbs, served with Mexican rice and garden vegetables. What arrived was a poorly grilled chicken, with a completely different stuffing (not cheese or herbs), and instead of Mexican rice, they served plain French fries — with no explanation or apology. For a dish priced at ₹700, you expect it to at least match the description on the menu.
Another letdown was the Mix Sauce Pasta. I had clearly requested a non-spicy version for my daughter, but they completely ignored this and served it with spices anyway, making it inedible for her.
The most disturbing part of our visit was the rude and unprofessional behavior of the lady at the counter. When I politely raised concerns about the wrong dish being served and requested that we only be billed for the pasta and drinks, she first ignored me, and then shockingly shouted at the staff in front of us, saying “Inka chicken kutte ko daal do, bahar Sheru baitha hai usko de do.” This kind of language is not only unprofessional but downright insulting.
Mistakes happen — and customers understand that — but it’s the attitude and how you handle those situations that defines your establishment. Sadly, Cafe Olio fails on both service and attitude.
The food was average at best, overpriced, and definitely not worth the poor service and unkind behavior. I would strongly advise against visiting this place. There are far better cafes in Kasauli that serve good food with warmth...

What truly sets Cafe Olio apart is its thoughtful blend of rustic charm and modern comfort. The interiors are tastefully designed, with cozy seating arrangements and artistic touches that reflect the spirit of the mountains. Whether you’re looking to enjoy a peaceful meal indoors or soak in the beauty of the hills from the outdoor terrace, this café offers the perfect setting.
The menu at Cafe Olio is a well-curated selection of continental and fusion dishes, all crafted with fresh, local ingredients. The wood-fired pizzas are a must-try—crisp, flavorful, and generously topped. Their pasta dishes are equally impressive, with rich sauces and perfectly cooked pasta. The coffee is strong and aromatic, ideal for a chilly Kasauli afternoon, and their desserts, especially the warm brownies and tiramisu, are the perfect sweet ending to a hearty meal.
Service here is friendly and efficient. The staff is courteous, knowledgeable, and always ready with recommendations. Even during busy hours, they manage to keep things running smoothly while maintaining a personal touch.
