The Open Barrel — Restaurant in Himachal Pradesh

The worst experience I ever had in a restaurant. There was nothing praiseworthy. We were around 10-12 people coming to have a good meal on our weekend at Kasauli. The food came in parts after around more than an hour. We came for breakfast and were served Tea first and the rest of the food came after yet another half an hour (in parts obviously) so you can imagine how pleased we were with the service. The parathas came one at a time in a gap of 15 mins making it impossible for everyone to enjoy the meal with each other. On complaining, the waiter kept saying that we should have ordered in advanced before coming in. But the restaurant was totally Empty!!! Talking about the food, the parathas were completely bland. There was no hint of flavour in any of the foods. The parathas which although costed so much were so thin that we couldn't differentiate any layer of it. The portion of food was so not enough. A cheese chilly dish that costed so much couldn't fill a child's stomach lol. We had ordered a chicken dish and after so much of complaining, we received it after around 2 hours of waiting. A whole chicken plate and didn't have even 10 grams of chicken. We received chapatis one at a time. Talking about other things. The waiters were rude. They didn't have any water for us to drink. Even the washrooms didn't have any water! And they refused to help us with that.

We went back after some verbal arguments and empty stomach.

One of my favourite get away places on weekends or for short rides in the evening. Close to chandigarh yet away from the hustle bustle of city. Comfortable, cozy place to have beers and read books! Roof top cafe with high bar chairs overlooking the occasional passing of toy train makes the perfect view.
