Nestled in Dharamsala, Raabta Café charms with its picturesque ambiance. Housed within a converted home, its veranda dining area, adorned with modifications for café life, basks in the warmth of sunlight and offers stunning vistas of the Dhauladhar mountain range. While the charm of a roadside café exudes from its every corner, the culinary experience leaves some room for improvement.
The coffee selection, unfortunately, falls short of expectations. My visit offered only hot and cold coffee options, a paltry choice for a dedicated coffee haven. Similarly, the menu, though decently priced, lacked the exclusivity one expects from a café. Nevertheless, the veg momos I ordered proved to be a delightful comfort, and the friendly canine resident ensured some heartwarming entertainment. However, the dessert options were disappointingly limited, with the near-empty display fridge only adding to the feeling of incompleteness.
Despite these shortcomings, Raabta Cafe's ambiance steals the show. The sunlight-drenched veranda, coupled with the breathtaking mountain views, creates a truly idyllic setting. It's a perfect spot for a quick coffee break, a place to soak in the serenity of the Himalayas and perhaps enjoy a friendly canine encounter. However, if you're seeking a diverse culinary adventure, Raabta might leave you wanting a...
Read moreThis is the best restaurant we have been to in and around Dharamshala.
Every other restaurant should go to Raabta Cafe and learn from them. Here are a few points we loved about the place:
Food was super tasty and value for money. We ate "Thai curry with rice" and "Pasta". The chef made veg pasta although we ordered nonveg one, may be out of habit of making veg pasta. However, the owner took responsibility and after repeated resistance from us she offered us the ordered pasta to go because we were already stuffed with the veg pasta and the other dish. This gesture is missing in restaurants operated in India. We got additional complimentary stuff as a gesture of apology. The place is super clean and picture perfect. The view of the Dhauladhar is breathtaking from the porch.
This is the fourth restaurant we have been to in past 4 days and believe me we've been discussing about the lack of sense of service and passion in the first three restaurants.
I wish that the restaurant culture in Dharamshala and for that matter that in all of Himachal would improve for better with Raabta Cafe setting...
Read more4.5 actually. We had a late breakfast here. Nice, breezy bright ambience. Comfortable seating and a gracious host. Food was superb. We had the Veg Wrap, Masala Dosa, tomato onion uttapam, custard and a filter coffee The wrap was delicious with a tangy mint chutney and slaw by the side. Dosa was crisp yet not fragile and crumby. The chutneys and sambhar were spot on, something to compare to Sarwana Bhawan in Delhi. The uttapam were also good but albeit a wee bit undercooked. The taste was good and hence the stars don't go away for this. The filter coffee is the reason behind half the star being less from a perfect score. It tasted like a simple milk and coffee concoction something I have never associated with a filter coffee. Maybe I got it wrong but I have had filter coffee in 3 of the 4 South Indian states and many Delhi restaurants. To finish the meal on a happy note we had the speciality Custard with fruits and ?cake crumbs and crushed rose petals. Unique and lovely taste. About the pics we were too hungry to click the...
