I recently visited Hoy Punjab and tried some of there dishes, so here’s my experience: Ambience: The atmosphere is vibrant and inviting, but the space feels small and doesn’t quite match the expectations for a brand like this. It gets crowded quickly, and the limited seating can be a downside. Parking: The parking facility is inadequate, which can be a hassle, especially during peak hours. Wait Time: The place is quite popular, so a lot of people visit. I had to wait for 20 minutes before getting a table. To avoid this, I’d recommend calling ahead and reserving a table. Food: I tried some dishes, and here’s my take: Cheese Naan and Butter Naan: Both were delicious, with the cheese naan being my favorite. The buttery, cheesy flavor is a perfect match for their curries. Chicken Tikka Masala (Punjabi Style): This was a standout dish, with rich, authentic flavors that paired wonderfully with the naan. Chicken Changezi: Another good option if you’re a fan of spicy, flavorful curries. Mint Chutney: The complimentary chutney was excellent, enhancing the flavors of the curries and bread when it is paired that combination is exceptional. Amritsar Kulcha is actually an overrated aloo paratha i won't recommend it. ( ₹230 is not justifiable) Desserts: I tried the Rasmalai and Lychee with Rabdi. Both were delightful, but the rasmalai stood out for its perfect texture and balanced sweetness. The lychee with rabdi was also a refreshing, unique dessert. Pricing: The food, though flavorful, is on the expensive side. Overall: Hoy Punjab is a good choice if you’re craving authentic Punjabi dishes. Calling ahead for a reservation is a smart move, and be prepared for limited parking.

Hoy Punjab restaurant is situated along Service road, Venpalavattom, near Royal Driver, Trivandrum. The restaurant can be easily noticed in normal traffic. There's plenty of parking space in front of the restaurant. Easily 15-20 cars can be parked at a time. The restaurant is well maintained and Clean. You're greeted by a lady at the entrance, who inquires about the number of people and in case you have a reservation or not. The restaurant is well lit and the interiors look pretty good. It's been more than 6 months since the restaurant started. This restaurant offers authentic Punjabi and north Indian dishes. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian cuisines are available here. The staff is pretty courteous. The ambience is good. We went here for a dine out multiple times during the last 6 months. My family and I are pure Vegetarians. Hence we tried only vegetarian cuisines available on the menu. Each time we visited here, the taste had been consistent. The Shorba we tried was really good. The Crispy Palak Chaat, Chukandar kabab were really good and I would recommend the same. After I placed the order, it took very little time to serve. Hence there was not much waiting time. At a time, the restaurant can easily accommodate 50-60 people. After finishing dinner, we also ordered a Sweet Lassi. I felt that the quantity was not sufficient for the price I paid for the same. Though the cost of items are slightly on the higher side, the quality and the taste is very good. The wash area and Restrooms are kept well cleaned. I would highly recommend this restaurant for folks who are looking for authentic North Indian and Punjabi cuisine.

We had a below-average experience at Hoy Punjab. After enduring a long wait to park and then to get seated, we were hoping for a pleasant experience, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to expectations. The menu seemed overpriced, but we decided to go ahead, assuming the quality and quantity of the food would justify the cost. Sadly, that wasn't the case. The chef-recommended Paneer Tikka Masala was essentially just an overload of tomato puree. A ₹100 paneer curry from a local eatery offers more paneer and better flavor. The Soya Chaap Masala tasted identical to the Paneer Tikka; we couldn't distinguish between the gravies at all. We also couldn’t figure out why they priced a simple roti at ₹69. It was small, average in taste, and many places serve much better versions for ₹25-30. The Veg Fried Rice was mediocre at best, and for ₹249, the portion was too small to share among 3-4 people, as we'd hoped. The taste didn’t justify the inflated price either. Even the soup, priced at ₹169, was just okay. On the positive side, the ambience was good, and the service was passable. Perhaps it's a better option for non-vegetarians, though I can't say for sure. The restrooms were unclean, and parking was limited, with no staff to manage the chaos. In conclusion, I wouldn’t recommend this place to vegetarians or anyone looking for value for money. 👎

Had dinner at this restaurant with my family today, and the overall experience fell far below expectations in terms of both food quality and service.

The quality of the food was substandard and did not justify the high prices. We ordered Chicken Shorba soup, which was served in a deep, narrow bowl that made it difficult to use a spoon properly. We noticed that almost every customer was struggling to consume their soup due to the awkward design of this bowl, making the experience unnecessarily inconvenient. The mismatch between the pricing and the actual taste and quality of the dishes was quite apparent.

The dining area is very CRAMPED, yet they continue to reserve seats for customers, forcing walk-ins to wait outside for 15–20 minutes. The staff appeared poorly equipped to manage customer flow. Additionally, the spotlight positioned above our table was uncomfortably bright, making it difficult to enjoy the meal.

Adding to the disappointment, they included a SERVICE CHARGE of ₹56 (5% of the bill amounting to ₹1128) WITHOUT OUR CONSENT. As per consumer protection guidelines, SERVICE CHARGES cannot be imposed unless the customer explicitly agrees. We had to request its removal and ask for a revised bill. When we asked to see the original bill that included the charge, we were told it had already been thrown away at the dustbin and could not be retrieved — which seemed very suspicious and unprofessional.

This kind of practice is unfair, especially for customers who may not check the bill carefully before making a Contactless payment

There are far better restaurants in Trivandrum that offer honest pricing and better experiences. This one is simply overhyped and not...
