Karikkakom Sri Chamundi Temple is an ancient and famous temple of Goddess Chamundi in Kerala. In this temple, the three state or aspect of Devi based on her character, emotion or expression are being worshipped separately in different Sreekovils (Sanctum) as Sri Chamundi, Rakthachamundi and Balachamundi. It is very rare or one of the kind in Kerala that a Goddess is worshipped in her three identities separately. They are placed and worshipped in separate Sreekovils of this temple. Also the main Sreekovil of Sri Chamundi Devi is a unique and spacious one wrt to other temples of Kerala.

Rakthachamundi is an Anger posture of Chamundi devi and Sreekovil is opened based on Nadathurappu Nercha (open the sanctum based on request) by Devotees for fullfillment of their wishes. The main offering for Rakthachamundi is Sathrusamhara pooja and this sanctum was very famous during King's rule itself for giving chance to disclose the truth for a convicted person and to prove his innocence or revealing his guilt. Also it was famous to get back the stolen properties by performing the Nadathurappu Nercha.

Balachamundi is a peacefull posture of Chamundi devi and mainly for giving blessings related to children's problems.

Pooja: Daily pooja during Morning, Noon time and Evening. Pooja on Fridays and Pournami days are special in Devi temples. Pooja timings: Morning 05.00 to 11.50 Evening 16.30 to 20.10 Timings are slightly stretched during festival days.

Vazhipadu (Offerings): All offerings as per Devi temples are available, however, Devi Sahasranamarchana, Raktha Pushpanjali, Thechi mala, Kadumpayasam, Palpayasam, Panchamrithm etc. are special. Conducting Swayamvarapooja and Saree charthu offering to Devi is for getting better and quick marriage alliances. Wearing Charadu (cotton thread) and Thakidu (metal slice) after pooja are very popular against Mental fears and Nightmares.
