Expectation was Best- Experience was worse. I never wanted to rate this restaurant low - However , my primary expectation from a restaurant is food and if they dont have it - I bet my rating is justified . I feel it is over rated on Zomato -- and keep your expectations low if you plan to visit -
I told all my friends about my weekend plan and how excited was I to taste a new cuisine -- but all that excitement and experience was not great due to NON AVAILABILITY OF FOOD .
The place is small , but well decorated , chill AC , and good music - But you will still feel that you are crammed unless you are in your teens .
I will visit this restaurant again and see how it would be at a different time and day --But for now I feel that its only for students - who prefer to have a quick snack .. Just like our panipuri shop ..except for the puri we will get momo here - Its not for dinner - its only for snacks.
More details :-
I have learned about this joint from Zomato and its has very good ratings - I am on the other side of the university and couldn't get it delivered - hence I went there yesterday at 8 PM ...There were different timings on Google and I called them earlier to get some info on availability of food and reservation --- no one answered . And it looks like the owners do not know who's number is listed - though they maintain the social media. The menu even says 10 PM is closing time . The moment we stepped out around 9:30 -- its was closed -
As I am a foodie , i am all excited and my kids as well .We wanted to try one from each section . Before even we placed the order - Excuse - 1 :: No Thali - No combo - Out of 7 two are gone . Excuse - 2 :: When we wanted to order cheese momo - no cheese available - Excuse -3 :: We ordered Paratha - from Appetizers - Order was taken - and then we were informed that its not available .
We understood - We ordered 1 fried momo ( with out cheese - not that we dint want cheese ) , Chowmen , Fried Rice, weekend special , and one Thukpa - We were told that Thukpa will take some time and the others will be more for us - we said if we were full we will take it to go . We are two elders and two kids ( Below 10)
We got our momo - Sekuwa - ( Video attached )..Surprisingly thukpa came first - followed by rice and then chowmen - Taste of the food was ok - Its very light , less spicy ..Thukpa was a new experience - my very first - I really liked it -- But I have to carry my own spice rack to make it better .
My kids liked sekuwa and thukpa as well . Rice was better than chowmen - After eating all these - we felt like we have just started - Thukpa was mild so we didn't want order it again -
Excuse 5 :- We wanted to reorder momos - but momo are done - It was very disappointing that we couldn't have what we wanted .
so we came out half filled ( I doubt its even half ) --- went to Domino's - had some pizza -- on the way back had some ice cream -- and then picked up some Manchuria at a food truck and then finished my dinner with home made...
Read moreEven if Hyderabad is a cosmopolitan space getting momos are still a luxury. Forget its counterpart dumplings, you either have to go for top notch luxury restaurants or the value places in few nooks and corners of the city for a momo splurge. Aama's is a must visit place for those fellas who say 'momos khaye' in any time of the day. Started as a take away place near Nallagandla Aama's has recently opened a new place for some authentic Nepalese cuisine. Located in the Gopanpalli village it's at a walkable distance from HCU South Gate also known as HCU exit gate. The menu is same as that of the Nallagandla but there's a slight price hike. Considering the seating space I would say this hike is negligible. If you are in mood for a momo splurge make sure to reach a bit early as the campus crowd often goes for their chicken momos. Available in both Veg and chicken varieties try their cheese momos and fried cheese momos as well. Available under soup categories, thenthuk and thukpa are must tries. It comes in large quantity so make sure you are with someone to share. Tingmo with meat balls are must tries. Though Tingmo is not so fluffy and big in size the combi of meat balls make it worthy. Sha phaley is the counterpart of fried momos but bigger in size. Once I have felt it to be less oily. Dashti is a combination cheese and potatoes with rice and can be a tummy filler especially for lunch. Open from 12 pm to 10 pm (closed on Monday's) the ambience can be a bit crowded with college students. Parking space is available. The timings could have extended and if you are not in a mood to wait long for the food, the waiting hours after placing order can be decreased a bit. So if you are missing a place like Majnu ka Tila in Delhi Aama's is a must place to go. Never forget to go a bit early to munch on momos and let's hope they will soon come up with some lip savoury...

A good restaurant should provide an enjoyable dining experience, leaving customers satisfied and willing to return.... Cherry on top... 'You are craving for an authentic dish and you find one place offering the same in your locality...
Now comes the horrific experience at Aama's who claim to have a hassle free and quick service with lighting, music and decor in harmony. But fail to satisfy at any front...
Firstly, the food served at Aama's is far from authentic Nepali cuisine. The dishes lack the signature flavors and spices that define Nepali cuisine. The restaurant seems to have attempted to cater to the Indian palate by adding excessive amounts of spices, resulting in a completely different taste. The menu options were limited, and the dishes did not represent the true essence of Nepal.
Moreover, despite being a Nepalese restaurant, the ambiance and decor of Aama's failed to evoke any sense of Nepal or Gorkhas. The interiors were dull, uninviting, and lacked any cultural elements. The restaurant's lighting was dim, which added to the gloomy atmosphere.
Another major disappointment was the absence of Nepali music, which could have added to the overall experience of dining at a Nepalese restaurant. Instead, the restaurant played generic pop songs, which seemed out of place and did not complement the food or atmosphere.
In conclusion, I would not recommend Aama's for anyone looking for an authentic Nepali dining experience in Hyderabad. The restaurant falls short on multiple fronts, including food, ambiance, and music. Needs a better representation of Nepali cuisine...
