Lives up to to the name 'Sifar'. I wish Google reviews also had an option to give 'sifar' rating but unfortunately '1 star' is the minimum requirement. Where to start? Right from the entry to the ambience to the food, nothing outstands here. I fail to understand which restaurant asks it's customers to wait 2 hours outside the restaurant till it starts functioning. It actually happened for 12 PM not 12 AM. Imagine a restaurant not allowing you to enter as if it's midnight not mid-day.
They actually take their customers for granted.
The Ambience is negative. The staff here has no manners to behave and serve the customers. They just remove the plate (still with your snacks) while you are still having it and when you raise it they don't even bother to Apologize or get your food back. They serve you in a clumsy manner as if they are serving you free of cost.
Food is a big disaster here. It's unhygienic, tasteless and costly. They actually serve you in broken crockery, there are stains and other substances on the surface that makes you feel sick. And guess what, when you raise it, again they don't bother to Apologize.
'The menu card' - They have a long list of offerings on their menu, that they also advertise on their Facebook and Instagram pages. But most of the items aren't available. Imagine a restaurant not offering you the basic dish 'Butter chicken'.
Bad news for dessert lovers- They have no desserts available even though they have list 10-12 items in there. No ice cream rolls, no cheesecake. Only 2-3 shakes available, that too tastes gross.
Billing process- There's no card payment service and you have to either pay by cash of mPay. And guess what when you ask them for the mPay number, they don't share it to your table but ask you to go to the reception counter. The suffering doesn't end there, 2-3 staff members escort you all the way to the reception, as if you would run away with their amount.
In short, Sifar actually offers you 'Sifar' experience. Don't be tempted by their infrastructure or ads, it's all fake. Sifar is not worth your hard earned...
Read moreI walked into Sifar with high expectations, having heard so much about it. Unfortunately, the reality was almost the complete opposite of what I had imagined. The place has a steel (teen) roof with no insulation, making it uncomfortably warm, and the air-conditioners didn’t seem to work. Instead, there was a large water-throwing fan placed at the end of the dining area, which, while probably meant to provide relief, gave off a very unhygienic impression right from the start.
We began our meal with Mutton Kebabs and Shawarma, both of which were genuinely enjoyable. The kebabs were flavourful and tender, while the Shawarma was well-made and satisfying. At that point, I was still hopeful about the rest of the meal. Unfortunately, the main course turned out to be a complete letdown. The much-hyped Butter Chicken – supposedly their chef’s signature dish – was a disaster. While the chicken itself appeared fresh, the gravy was bland, uninspired, and nowhere close to the rich, balanced flavour that defines this dish. They did offer to fix it, which I appreciate, but by then my appetite was gone.
Having tasted Butter Chicken at iconic places like Moti Mahal and countless restaurants across Delhi and Kashmir, I can confidently say this was, by far, the most disappointing version I’ve had. For a restaurant with such a reputation, this was shocking.
We ended up paying a bill of around ₹2,700 – and in all honesty, what I regret most is not the money, but the wasted opportunity. The one saving grace was the staff: polite, attentive, and genuinely kind. The managers were equally courteous, which is why it’s even more surprising that the kitchen didn’t live up to the same standard. If the chef truly has won awards for Butter Chicken as claimed, then I can only assume our dish was prepared by an inexperienced hand that day.
Sifar clearly has potential – the appetisers were proof of that – but for now, the gap between its hype and its reality is...
