Absolutely Disappointed – Poor Hygiene, Tasteless Food & Arrogant Service.

I had one of the most unpleasant dining experiences at The Reef Rooftop Restaurant. Visiting this place turned out to be a complete disaster from the moment I entered.

To start with, it was raining and the entire rooftop was poorly managed — water was spilling everywhere, and guests had randomly dumped their helmets on seats, making it hard to find a place to sit. The staff did not bother to assist or organize. I had to pull my own chair and adjust the table to sit.

After a long wait, a waiter silently placed a packaged water bottle on my table — without even offering a glass! I kept calling for service, but most staff members were either unresponsive or simply ignored me. Finally, one waiter came and recommended Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Bhuna masala, Dal Fry with Butter Roti. I went ahead with the suggestion.

Then came the real nightmare. The Tandoori Chicken was a soggy mess — completely lacking the crisp outer layer, drenched in half-cooked masala, and tasted like it had just been steamed with spices dumped on top. If that wasn’t enough, rainwater literally dripped into my plate from the roof while I was eating. The infrastructure clearly cannot support dining in monsoon.

Hoping the main course would redeem the experience — I was in for a bigger shock. The dal was outright sour and stale — likely gone bad. The roti was drenched in oil(could be a mix of oil and butter). When I raised the issue of the stale dal, the waiter walked away. I had to report the issue three times before someone acted and took it away.

Then came the Chicken Bhuna, which was just oil, grease, and what tasted like spoiled or adulterated gravy. Completely inedible. I politely asked for the bill and informed the waiter that the food was unacceptable.

To top it all, the manager showed zero courtesy. When I gave my feedback politely, he arrogantly told me, “Everyone likes our food, you’re the only one complaining.” – What kind of manager says that to a paying guest who just had to walk out hungry?

Despite paying in full, I left the restaurant feeling completely let down — hungry, disrespected, and appalled.

Avoid this place at all costs. Overhyped, unhygienic, poorly managed, untrained staff, terrible food, and worst of all — a complete lack of customer respect or accountability. A place that neither respects your time, your health,...
