Kamat Upchar restaurant is located on highway and is very convenient to locate. It serves excellent quality vegetarian food in South as well as north indian options. It opens at 6.30am and closes at 12am midnight. From 7 am onwards you get tea coffee idli. 8am onwards your get dosa and wada varieties. From 12.30 till 4 pm they offer various types of meals thali option. North Karnataka meals and North Karanataka special meals is yummy food options available. Bit expensive but delicious food. This restaurant serves fresh sugar cane juice. It has a mithai stall where you can get options of besan laddu, chiwada and hot chips. It has a play area for children. Very good views. Nice sight seeing in all over. Banana trees and small hills makes this place cool. Railway track passing very close parallel to highway is also a treat when train passes by. This restaurant is old and not well maintained as far as interior is concerned. Washrooms and Toilets are available but even though 7 taps connection available only two had taps fitted. A horrible place to be in on a weekend that to in peak hours. Management is pathetic and it was evident all around. Literally there was no coordination between the stewards, servers, cleaners and the kitchen staff. A person waking in could literally feel the commotion, confusion and the stink from the leftovers strewn all over the floor and dinning tables. We literally took 1hr 25 mins to finish a jowar roti meal. Asking was second serving was a crime. Food was above average though. Hygiene was not maintained and rest rooms were at it's worst. I saw people carrying water from hand wash taps in buckets to use the toilets. I have visited other branches of kamath upchar in other cities in the state never encountered such experience.
