Hakuna Matata — Restaurant in Karnataka

Hakuna Matata, which literally means no problems had a lot of problems starting from the staff forgetting the orders to serving just average dishes to having cleanliness issues. This is situated on the Parkala Road in Manipal. This place is a pretty average kinda place where I guess two restaurants have been collaborated under one roof. Starting with the orders, we had placed starters of a Mexican fries, main course of a Schewan fried rice along with chili baby corn. The Chilli babycorn was just dusted with chili powder on the top with tomato puree and served with curry leaves and oil. The babycorn was too soggy as well to eat along with the fried rice. The fried rice was just average and nothing special about it. The starters which he had ordered still hasn't come despite us telling the staff repeatedly. Once we were done, we asked another staff, he was shocked and then he had to confirm with the previous staff who had taken our order that we had even placed that item. We waited for like 20 mins post having our main course the starter had come. Got to admit, it was clearly visible that he had messed up that dish as there was no clear presentation on that dish and was just served in a haste. The proportions of onions and tomatoes were soo inappropriate and the sauce added on the top of the fries were just a mess. The fries were just hard as if they just reheated the fries and served it. The staff were least attentive as it was not even peak hours as well and they messed up the orders and late delivery. I would definitely not recommend anyone here as the cleanliness was there as there were stains on the glass and not simply ruin your mood over good food...

Last Sunday afternoon, I had the chance to visit Hakuna Matata in Manipal, a place that promises an incredible value with its unlimited food offer for just ₹299. The concept itself is appealing—offering a vast variety of food in an unlimited thali, which truly makes it a hotspot for food enthusiasts looking for both quantity and taste.

Upon arrival, we eagerly ordered our food at around 1:30 PM, fully expecting a quick turn-around given the buzz about the place. However, the service left a bit to be desired. Our food only arrived at approximately 2:10 PM, meaning we had to wait about 40 minutes. Although the wait was longer than anticipated, it gave us plenty of time to appreciate the bustling ambience and talk about how the affordable price made this treat totally worth it.

The thali itself was a feast for the senses. The spread included two distinctive types of biryani alongside pepper chicken, chilli chicken, and the famous Guntur chicken, each prepared with its own unique flavour twist. Additionally, there was a comforting bowl of chicken soup, a perfectly cooked egg omelette, fresh salad, and even boiled eggs. Every dish was well-cooked and delicious, with the flavours being particularly noteworthy. While the food was delightful and truly tasty, I felt that a little extra spiciness could have elevated the experience even further. A good place to chill out with a refreshing ambiance and great music! The atmosphere and vibes at the place are very hip and will automatically set the mood for a fun time! The music at times can be a tad bit loud but hey, it’s a resto pub!

The food is delightful and delicious, especially the starters. Be it veg or non veg, you can really dig into it without any regrets. The melting mushrooms are a must try and so are the tikka items. Even the chicken lollipop (drums) were absolutely flavorful. The pizzas too were well made, but I wouldn’t call them the highlight of the menu. I would not recommend the sea food, it’s not that it’s bad - it’s great - but there are better places around for that.

They serve all variety of liquors - beers, rum, whiskey etc and also have a variety of cocktails and mocktails. We did feel the quality and quantity of the cocktails could have been better, esp the alcohol content in those felt non existent but overall they were good and well presented.

The staff here is great! Very polite and courteous and will help out in making the right choice if needed from the menu!

Overall a nice place to unwind with friends. They got some cozy seating as well, so not a bad...
