Forget Santorini sunsets and Michelin-starred marvels. I was in Manipal, India, chasing rumors of decent pizza amidst the dosa stands and chai wallahs. Pizza Hut, Canara Mall – not exactly the stuff of culinary dreams, but hey, a man gotta eat.
Now, I'm no stranger to questionable pizza joints. From dive bars in Detroit to dusty outposts in Southeast Asia, I've seen (and unfortunately, tasted) it all. This Pizza Hut wasn't much to look at – fluorescent lights, plastic booth seats, the usual posters. But hey, sometimes familiarity breeds a grudging respect.
First up, the Cheesy Garlic Bread. Not gonna lie, the name was about as creative as a cardboard box. But here's the thing – it delivered. The bread was fluffy, the cheese gooey, and the garlic hit all the right notes. No culinary fireworks, just simple, cheesy goodness that did the job.
Then came the pizzas. The Veg Exotic – a colorful mess of veggies including, yes, corn kernels. Now, I wouldn't normally trust corn on a pizza, but somehow, in this Manipal mishmash, it worked. The sweetness played off the earthy tones of the other veggies, making for a surprisingly decent flavor combo. Not gourmet, but hey, sometimes unexpected twists can be pleasant surprises.
Next, the Murg Malai Chicken. The name promised creamy, tandoori-kissed magic, and while it wasn't exactly magical, it wasn't bad either. The chicken was decent, the sauce creamy, and the spices present but not overpowering. Not groundbreaking, but passable for a quick bite.
Now, let's talk utensils. Knife and fork? No greasy fingers for this "aesthete"? Look, I'm not judging. You eat your pizza how you please – be it with chopsticks, a spork, or straight off the pan. But in this case, the fork actually made sense. The crust wasn't exactly New York-style foldable, and the toppings were a bit on the generous side. So, fork it was.
Overall, Pizza Hut, Canara Mall wasn't a life-changing pizza experience. But it was decent, familiar, and did the job in a town where finding decent cheese can be a challenge. So, if you're in Manipal and craving a taste of something American (with an Indian twist), give it a go. Just don't expect a culinary epiphany. You might just be surprised, or you might just get a decent slice of pizza in a land of...
Read moreIt's located in Canara Mall 1st floor, so it is easy to find.
The pizza are quite good too, nothing surprising here as it is what you would expect from pizza hut.
But their main attraction is the unlimited pizza's on Fridays - 299 for non veg (with unlimited coca- cola too). It's quite a decent price all things considered.
Great place to hangout with your friends on a Friday evening, however there might no be space to sit as the seating arrangement isn't adequate enough to deal with the Friday evening rush.
Also I feel like the pizza aren't as tasty on Fridays because there is so much rush and as a result the Pizza also feels like it was being made in a hurry. Toppings are just the standard stuff, nothing exciting (This is my personal opinion BTW)
So don't go here expecting some exotic unlimited Pizza, this is just a place for you to spend time with your friends while enjoying some...
Read moreI went there yesterday for my brother's birthday. The place is well lit and furnished. Just that the AC wasn't turned on idk why. We opted for an unlimited meal which was worth 300 per head which consists of a medium size pizza and a drink. The pizzas were piping hot and fresh and yumm!! Also they're avoiding straws for their drinks but they're hygienic. We ordered for a non veg meal which only has the options of Chicken sausage and chicken meatball pizzas but no complaints because...
