I’ve been eating here since before I could even talk. And honestly, when I have the hot Benne Khali Dose fresh off the sizzling dose pan, I still can’t talk sometimes. The crispy golden layer outside and the soft, pillowy white inside make your whole body shiver when you take a bite with the legendary chutney they serve. The generous dollop of butter melts into the dose, seeping through its pores and elevating the taste to a whole new level.

Pretty much all their doses are good, but if it’s your first time here, the Benne Khali Dose is the one you must try. Don’t skip the uddina vades—they’re heavenly when paired with the chutney. The masale idlis are alright, but inflation seems to have hit them hard—they’ve shrunk so much, they look more like doses than idlis now.

On a less serious note, avoid weekend mornings if you don’t want to stand in a horde of dose-hungry humans waiting 30 minutes for your turn. Weekdays or evenings are a safer bet. That said, there’s a certain sense of achievement you’ll only feel when you fight through the mob and finally get your dose.

HVR Veg in Hassan is a small self-service eatery located about a kilometre from MG Road — a great spot for anyone craving authentic South Indian breakfast or snacks. Despite its modest setup, the food here truly stands out.

The benne dose is a must-try — soft inside, perfectly crisp outside, and generously buttery. The vada is equally impressive: crispy, golden, and flavorful. Don’t miss their golibaje, a light and tasty snack that pairs wonderfully with filter coffee.

It’s usually a bit crowded, and since there’s no token system, getting your order takes a bit of patience. Some better crowd management would definitely help. That said, the food quality and taste make it well worth the effort.

Despite providing tasty food , owner is greedy in charging 10-20 rs more from people. I would highly suggest to ask price before ordering food and also while making the payment.

If your order is more than 200rs , high chances are there to get charged more . I am personally experienced two times with the owner guy (wearing mask always) charging more.

Dont know why people after establishing business like this turns into greedy. He is already making good amount of money (may be 1lk per day), still he wants to steal 5-10 bucks from people.

I am not taking about the taste and quality of the food as i dont have any second thought on the food.
