In the world of bustling breakfast joints, Mamu Idli Hotel stands out as a true testament to the saying "simplicity is best." This unpretentious eatery has mastered the art of serving perfectly steamed idlis that strike the ideal balance between fluffy and firm. Each idli comes with their signature coconut chutney and sambar, both packed with authentic flavors that transport you straight to South Indian homes.
The real charm of Mamu Idli Hotel lies in its consistency. Morning after morning, they maintain the same high quality that has earned them a loyal customer base. The moment you walk in, you're greeted by the comforting aroma of freshly steamed idlis and the sight of busy cooks expertly managing their stations.
What makes this place special is their dedication to maintaining traditional flavors while keeping their prices remarkably reasonable. The service is swift and efficient, especially during the morning rush – a time when the restaurant operates like a well-oiled machine. Their staff, though minimal, manages to keep the tables clean and orders flowing smoothly.
While they serve other South Indian breakfast items, it's their namesake idlis that truly shine. The cleanliness of their open kitchen adds to the dining confidence, letting you watch as your breakfast is prepared with care. For anyone seeking an authentic South Indian breakfast experience without any frills, Mamu Idli Hotel delivers consistently...
Read moreFirst visited this place more than 10 years ago when I was in college. Revisited recently. Limited seating arrangement. But the service is superfast.Even if you don't get a place to sit, can get the food in a plate and eat outside.
Idly, vade, Dose and Pulav are on the menu. Idly is super soft, vade is crunchy, dose is good too. Pulav was tasty. Thier chutney is super spicy. Must be paired with the onion palya and ghee.
They don't do any kanjoosi in serving ghee and chutney. I believe I'm not the only one who likes their dose more than the idly. Idly is soft but the texture is spongy. I liked dose more. Vade was good. Get half plate of pulav. It's sufficient.Parcel service is available too. One should clear out their own plate/banana leaf.
Likes : Tasty vade, Pulav and delicious dose with chutney Fast service No kanjoosi in serving the sides - chutney, palya and ghee Pocket friendly - 50 rs for 4 idlies and vade, 20 for 2 dose, 20 for half pulav
Dislikes : Chutney is super spicy Hygiene issues Though we can park in the empty area next to the shop, after 9 it gets crowded. Avoid parking your car inside the street. Better park somewhere in the main road and walk
A nice place to visit once In a while. I would not travel just to have breakfast there.

Read moreThis hole in the wall kind of place is indeed a hidden gem. It's more than two decades old which serves limited South Indian breakfast during morning.
That main USP of this place are: Idli: this popular South Indian breakfast item is served both baked onion and spicy red chutney topped with generous portion of ghee. The whole combination tastes heavenly. Each time it's a tempting experience. Dosa: they generally serve Set Dosa & Hyderabad Dosa. I liked Set Dosa over Hyderabad Dosa. It is also served in the same manor as of Idli. But I chose Idli over Dosa any time.
There is nothing much to discuss about ambience as it's a small canteen kind of setup. It has only 3 tables which can accommodate maximum 12 people. Most of the crowd prefer to stand and eat.
Since the restaurant is managed by a single family, don't expect royal treatment. But they serve quickly and efficiently. Just don't mind to ask pour ghee. They pour it happily.
Overall, this place demands a mandatory visit if you are a good enthusiast like me and if you happen to visit Hassan City. There is no parking space for cars so be sure to park it in next roads. This place accepts cash...
