This is an old and legendary place. Most of the people going via Tumkur Road towards or from Bengaluru plan their travel in order to pay a visit to this place. Had there been a hand-wash liquid or a soap, I would have given it 5 stars.
Let's get to the facts:
Taste-wise: Superlative. I don't think I have ever tried Thatte idli with butter on top. It was delicious. Same goes for chatni and a different sambhar. The sambhar was not the usual watery vegetable laden one. It was a little thicker and the vegetables were not to be seen. The masala dosa was mouth-watering. Crispy. Masala was so aptly prepared. Felt like that is how the masala is supposed to be prepared. Coming to the Vada. Very nice. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Memorable experience on this part. Coffee was a little hard but that's okay. It was good. They do offer Tea, fresh juice, ice-cream and cold-drinks as well.
Ambiance: Not that great. But you wouldn't expect that as well given that it is such an old shop. Not many seats are available as it is not that big in area. It is congested too. Four-seat tables and chairs are there. Six can be accommodated if they are anorexic. :P Since, many people throng this place, it looks a little more congested than it actually is. Cleanliness is maintained well. Washrooms could've been cleaner. Liquid soap or soap should have placed at hand-wash basin.
Cost-wise: Reasonable. It is not that costly. It is not that cheap too. The prices are put keeping in mind the kind of customers visit this place. Most of them are travelers. They prefer to eat light and good.
Service: Remarkably swift. You place your order and within minutes they appear at your table. Staffs are polite. Since, they have to manage almost a packed restaurant for almost whole of their working hours, they are always on their toes and attend to their customers earnestly. They were good.
Overall, do keep in mind to pay a visit to this place. Taste will remain with you for...
Read more[Review from June 2022 - 4 🌟 ] First of all, changed the rating from 2 to 4 which was quite a jump but I guess they deserve it. This time when we visited it was much more crowded than last time being a Sunday 9a that we went. But service was very quick and attentive. The dosa with butter was super yum. Thate idli was soft and tasty. Vada was only ok and finally the coffee was quite strong. Park the car inside the lane beside the hotel, it opens to a small field that can accommodate about 12 cars.
[Review from 1st Nov 2021 - 2 🌟 ] Went here due to the recent hype - must say the place is clean but the taste is just normal so just the hype. We ordered a variety of items - idli butter vada - 1 thate idly, 1 vada and a cube of butter with chutney & sambar. Idly was super soft and how thate idly needs to be. Vada was normal. Butter didn't taste homemade. Chutney was super spicy. Sambar seemed like full of red chilli powder. Masala dosa - good size, very oily. Tasted normal. Set Dosa - very oily. We asked for additional potato palya, but the regular sagu was not there. So it seems set dosa is served with chutney & sambar. Maddur vada - was just then fried. Super flaky but seemed artifical. Taste was ok. Coffee - was very nice.
Service was fast as we went around 12.30p on a holiday (1st Nov). It wasn't very crowded. Parking is a mess as the hotel staff don't help and there is haphazard parking even in front of the restaurant.
Cost seemed quite expensive and not even close to Bangalore Darshini rates - but much higher. Not...
Read moreMy recent visit to Pavitra Hotel in Tumkur left me with mixed feelings. While the food's taste was average, the quantity was generous, just as advertised. However, the prices, though reasonable, didn't quite match the hype I had heard.
One notable concern was the need for improved cleanliness. It's an aspect that could significantly enhance the overall dining experience. Attention to hygiene is crucial, especially in the food industry.
Parking arrangements in front of the hotel were convenient, but travelers coming from Bangalore should exercise caution due to the ongoing construction. Clear signage or guidance could prevent any confusion, ensuring a smoother arrival experience.
The quantity-to-price ratio was satisfactory, making it a reasonable choice for a meal stop. However, it's essential for the establishment to live up to the market expectations, especially considering the varied feedback.
In conclusion, Pavitra Hotel offers a decent stopover, but there's room for enhancement. If taste and hygiene are elevated to match the generous portions and reasonable prices, it has the potential to become a more compelling choice for both locals and travelers...
