Shiv Sagar Tate Idli in Bidadi, owned by Lokesh (Ramachari) and powered by Dr. Pruthvi, stands as a hidden culinary gem for those who appreciate the rich, comforting flavors of South Indian cuisine. This establishment has carved a niche for itself with its carefully crafted menu, where each dish speaks of a mastery in traditional preparation, paired with an unpretentious approach that makes it feel as though you’re indulging in a warm, familial experience.
The butter idli here is nothing short of extraordinary. Light, fluffy, and subtly spongy, the idlis are meticulously steamed to perfection. The generous dollop of butter that crowns each one adds a melt-in-your-mouth texture, enhancing the natural flavors while creating a luxurious mouthfeel. The accompaniment of fresh, tangy sambar and coconut chutney elevates the entire experience, offering a perfect balance of spice, sweetness, and umami. It’s a plate that feels as comforting as it is indulgent, a classic that never loses its charm.
The vade (or vada) is equally impressive. Crispy on the outside and soft yet dense on the inside, each vada boasts a beautiful golden hue and a satisfying crunch with every bite. The seasoning is delicately balanced, allowing the natural flavors of the urad dal to shine through. The texture, light yet hearty, makes for a delightful contrast when dipped into the sambar or paired with the chutneys.
The rice served at Shiv Sagar Tate Idli is an understated marvel. Whether you opt for plain steamed rice or a more complex dish, the grains are cooked to perfection—each one separate and well-formed. This base dish provides a comforting, neutral contrast to the bold flavors of the accompaniments, ensuring that each bite is a perfect balance of textures and tastes.
Lokesh (Ramachari)’s dedication to authenticity and quality shines through in every dish, and Dr. Pruthvi’s influence ensures a consistent standard that reflects a commitment to excellence. Their collaborative effort has resulted in a place where the soul of traditional South Indian cuisine thrives, served with warmth and hospitality.
In conclusion, Shiv Sagar Tate Idli offers an experience that transcends the typical idli stall. It’s a celebration of flavors and textures, executed with remarkable care and precision. Whether you’re a local resident or a traveler passing through Bidadi, this unassuming spot is a must-visit for anyone in search of true South Indian comfort food, with a touch of...

Read moreDue to the fact that I visited on a weekend morning, the place was very crowded. This was my first time tasting thatte idly in this area though it is famous for the same.
I tasted their Thatte Idly and Vade and a masale dosé. Idly was super soft and great. Vade was also good and so was masale dosé.
They serve chutney and sambar for all these dishes. Chutney will be a bit high spices for those that do not like it spicy. Sambar was manageable.
They have ample parking space and small restrooms.
Apart from all this, frankly, I felt like they should think of cleanliness of the premises outside and inside and as well as themselves. 😶 Outside seems more cleaner than their kitchen and collection areas. The chefs and cashier too 😶🤐 I don't know if they have enough arrangements but they should really make it a point to start the day by taking a good shower and wearing washed clothes or a uniform (this is not necessary there, I know)!
Just to add - I was supposed to go to Shivadarshana Shashi thatte idly and ended up here due to a small confusion. It seems like many first timers who plan to visit Shashi thatte idly end up here as this one is located just before that and as the boards are not clear and parking space is too inviting, one would enter in to check and decide to get in here itself after seeing the ample parking space! 😅 While going out I saw Shivadarshana Shashi Thatte Idly hotel and noticed that the customers were parking their cars on the main road to...
