Oh boy, it seems like this used to be a pretty decent vegetarian restaurant, but it's fallen on some hard times lately. I went there recently and let me tell you, it was a bit of a letdown. There were several issues that made me want to avoid this place like the plague.
Let's start with the AC situation - it's like they have a mind of their own! Some areas were hotter than a jalapeño, while others were as cool as a cucumber. Not exactly the most comfortable dining experience, if you ask me.
And then there were the hand towels - I don't know what they were feeding those things, but they were stinking up the joint something fierce! Definitely not the fresh, clean towels you'd expect in a decent establishment.
But wait, there's more! The waiter was about as friendly as a porcupine. He spoke to us like we were a bunch of misbehaving children. Not exactly the kind of hospitality you want when you're trying to enjoy a nice meal.
And to top it all off, they didn't even accept card payments! When I tried to pay with my card, the waiter blamed it, but when the same error popped up for my other card and other customers, he finally admitted defeat.
Overall, it was a disappointing experience that left a bad taste in my mouth (and not just from the food). If you're just looking for a quick bite to eat, it's not the worst place in the world. But if you're hoping for comfort, hospitality, and politeness, I'd highly recommend looking elsewhere. This restaurant needs to get its act together if it wants to stay...
Read moreThe Oaks is a multicuisine restaurant, something really different from the usual ones and one of its kind in Hubballi, I felt. You get to taste Indian, Chinese, Continental, partly Mexican and Thai cuisines without burning a huge hole in your pocket. Locating the Restaurant is not a big deal in this era of google maps. Parking space is available for cars and bikes. Restuarant houses an in house banquet hall for small functions. There's a separate counter outside for juices and chaats.
The altogetger ambience is set contemporary and the architect has used a lot of wood to set the mood very cozy. Traditional lantern type multicolured glass luminaires add up the beauty. Though in total, the seats appear close to each other and little bit crowded the staff take good care to not disturb the customers and guests while serving and clearing tables.
I suggest all the food enthusiasts should once come here have a taste of something from their extensive list of eateries. I used to try new restaurants evrytime we go out and in Hubballi I felt the menu for vegetarians are more or less the same everywhere (of course there are few exceptions). But in The Oaks I feel anyone would get to taste something new to your tastebuds. Despite the rush, I felt the time lapsed from taking order to table service is lower when compared to many...
