I am very sad to post such a review here. I just wonder how they attain 4.7 rating in google reviews.May be some other teams run that hotel previously rather than current owners. Yesterday myself with two friends visited that place noon time ( we are from Aluva , Kerala ) and experience one of the most worst food experience from there. Only so I compose this utter negative review here. If any option there to review extreme negative i must do that . Here google only allow me to post after at least giving 1 star. I will come to the incident now , We order two litter toddy ( one bottle is yesterdays which is more alcoholic and another one in clay pot which they said from morning session , which is sweet and less alcoholic , together we order 3 type of fish item ( 1 Natholi fry, they call it choodan fish there ) , 3 tapioca , and 1 plate oyster roast. thats the total items we order. When the very first tasting we feel its very low quality , preserved , and cooked in used oil , used oil means that much black oil. There is nothing special nor tasty , we feel so sad because we come there after saw the 4.7 reviews and drive extra 12 from Excel glass junction Alleppy. Any we we just had it silently and sadly . and next fun is the time of billing, they ask double amount than we expected. we just ask for detailed bill . then they submit a notebook in which one page they calculate our expense. We really wonder when see this , yet we don't talk any word there Pay what they ask . Even at Ernakulam which is consider more expensive than Alleppy can server premium food at least 25% low rate than they ask.So after this incident we forgot the scene after thought about our big unfortunate day. Then the third stage , the most bitter and sad events . We all 3 have severe food infection. Heavy stomach pain , vomitting and loose motion throughout the night . we just communicate each other weather other persons have same and understood , its for we 3 . We damn sure its so unhygienic and irresponsible making and serving of food.No proper cooking to boil item , all are properly preserved , bad oil . To be frank ( don't feel bad ) My stool smell like uncooked raw fish :( . That much we suffer . We don't have any complaint to charge higher amount even its is 1000 or 10000 But serving unhealthy , non hygienic and bad food is very very intolerable. My self believe that never give any thing that feel bad for us to others. Just consider the basic humanity . We lost at least 2 days because of this body condition. We can make profit how much we want; but "manasakshi " ennoru sambhavam undu. Dont cheat on that even we may can attain a crore. I don't have no any intention to spoil there business , i don't know weather who they are , but i cant post this much here because that much we 3 suffer because of there wonderful business. Still I am wondered about that...

Woohhh...! I mean...WoW. This place was a total surprise. I'll tell u why. Me n my buddies went there to have a jolly good time and i havta say i didn't expect the kinda crowd there was at noon. IT WAS PACKED...ladies n gents equally alike. Second surprise was the food and the toddy. Daaaammmnnn it was goood. !! Nd then comes n little boat n ducks n a tiny Lil kitteh meowing his merry way all around .

Let's talk about the services n amenities...

PARKING : Tons of it yet for the crowd, it still isn't enf. Better get there early. AMBIENCE: The place is midst of beaaautiful paddy fields n water bodies....it a treat just to look around. The HUTs r brilliant for small to medium groups. WASH n RESTROOM : Available SERVICE : Now this...is a highlight. They take you on a tour of the dishes....instead of handing you the menu. The tour goes thru the prepared dishes n the kitchen....from which u can select the most tastiest and awesome looking ones to feast on..... SEATING : Now...if you go, be ready to wait. Thers plenty of rooms n seating facilities...yet the rush is too much.. CLEANLINESS : well it's not a 5 star ..so don't get grossed out with the state of a few things. It's just part of the authentic toddy shop experience. But they do try to maintain a clean environment n tables ...atleast. PARCEL n ORDERS : they do parcel the stuffs...and i believe they do take orders as per request. STAFF : they r in a hurry ...a lot of hurry.. but they do tend to you ASAP. Good behaviour nd service.

The Food n stuffs....

DISH VARIETY : Ohh you can expect the best kinda ones. Beef, duck, all kinds of fish, crab, prawns, river fish, sea-fish, squid, rabbit....yep.... Altho I found it odd that I cudnt find chicken...very odd. TODDY : DAAAAMmm....the sweet toddy is perfect.. TASTE: Ohh this is for the people who loooove a different palette. Spicy, yet the taste is meticulously maintained. Well seasoned..nd garnished with onion rings... Aah!! The best !! Sip a mouthful of toddy in between nd the tastes would sparkle into life inside your mouth. It's gooood Maan. It's goood..!!

The ambience and the food and the various open conversations is going to make the trip to this place so worthwhile.

Pricing and stuffs ... Well the pricing is moderate. It's definitely not cheap... But i believe it's worth that price.... But also believe me when i say....ur not gonna look at the final bill or the price per place... iYKYK... Lol.

Overall. It was one of the best experience for me in a while now. Nd such good...

A Unique Blend of Family Dining and Toddy Culture

Nestled in the heart of Kuttanad, Aatumukham family restaurant with a toddy shop offers a unique dining experience that blends traditional flavors with a hint of local toddy culture. The establishment strikes a balance between being a casual family spot and a place to enjoy authentic toddy, a fermented coconut drink that is deeply rooted in regional traditions. The food is a standout feature. The menu boasts an impressive range of coastal delicacies, with a focus on fresh seafood and locally sourced ingredients. Their dishes like spicy karimeen pollichathu (pearl spot fish wrapped in banana leaf), chemmeen roast (prawns),beef ularthiyathu, duck pepper roast, crab roast, fish thala curry, kaada fry etc. are to die for.

What sets this place apart is the inclusion of toddy in the meal. The toddy is served fresh and complements the spicy, robust flavors of the food perfectly. It’s lightly sweet and slightly tangy, ideal for washing down the rich curries and fried dishes.

The staff here is warm and attentive, with good knowledge of the menu and the local tradition of toddy. The servers are happy to make recommendations, ensuring you pair your food with the right toddy for an authentic experience. The separate seating for families, coupled with the emphasis on wholesome, delicious food, makes it a great spot for people of all ages. Parents can indulge in traditional flavors while kids enjoy milder dishes.

Whether you’re a local or a tourist, this restaurant offers a slice of Kerala's toddy shop culture in a way that’s accessible and enjoyable...

Attumugham Toddy Shop is not just a place to enjoy toddy—it's an experience that immerses you in the rich culinary and cultural essence of Kerala. Tucked away in a serene location, this place stands out for its authentic food, warm service, and rustic ambience. The bearers deserve a special mention. From the moment we stepped in, they were courteous, attentive, and full of local charm. They didn't just serve food—they narrated the story behind each dish, offered suggestions based on our taste, and made sure we felt genuinely welcomed. Their cheerful demeanor and prompt service elevated the entire experience. The ambience is unpretentious yet captivating. Surrounded by lush greenery and close to a flowing stream, the natural setting adds to the laid-back vibe. The simple wooden benches, thatched roof, and open kitchen give it a raw and rustic feel that perfectly matches the traditional toddy shop spirit. The smell of fried fish and spicy curries wafting through the air instantly builds up your appetite. Coming to the food—absolutely outstanding. Octopus and Prawns  were to die for, with just the right amount of spice and sourness. The variety of fish fries, especially the pearl spot and prawns, were fresh and perfectly cooked. And of course, the toddy—chilled, mildly sweet, and refreshing—was the perfect complement to the rich and spicy dishes. If you’re looking for a truly local culinary escape, Attumugham Toddy Shop should be at the top of your list. Go with an open heart and a hungry stomach—you’ll leave with a full belly and a smile.
