We stopped on our way to somewhere to dine in at Paragon. The restaurant was clean, well maintained with amole onsite parking. The staff were welcoming and cared to listen to us for seating. The service was excellent throughout.
Let’s talk food. Starters first. Tom yum was a good kerala makeover of the actual thai version. It tasted like a concoction of tomato rasam and tom yum in equal measure. Squid with coconut (Koonthal thenga kothu) was quite flavorful with high notes of pepper and coconut but not overpowering the senses. The let down was the centerpiece of the dish - chewy and lethargically cut squid. Bite sized and tender cooked squid would have done justice to the dish. Let’s ignore talking about the Fresh green pepper grilled fish that lacked character and texture. Raw mango carrot salad tasted good. We were expecting a more refined preparation like Thai papaya salad but the ingredients of this salad were roughly french cut.
We waited for the entrees with a little bit of hope left from the dismissive experience from the starter round. First came our appam and fish Moilee. The Appams were excellent. Order twice than what you would expect to eat. They are good, thin and small. Fish moilee again was a big let down. It felt like cornstarch thickened light on coconut and spice (not heat/hot) curry created for western tastebuds. The presentation in a traditional earthenware is an excellent idea though. We chased the appams down with the nadan mutton curry. It had a different taste than traditional but definitely on the good side just for me.
The garlic naan and butter chicken were okay.
Finally, the chicken biriyani shattered our hopes and didn’t live up to the expectations. The chicken seemed to have been cooked long enough to absorb the curry but that didn’t help due to lack of flavor and taste. Alas, the meat was tender.
Ended our meal with few orders of blueberry cheesecake and tender coconut pudding. Liked the cheesecake and the pudding. The pudding could use less sugar and gelatin. Its more of a jelly than a pudding at the consistency presented. A bit more raw fruit on top and aides would help break the monotony of the taste and texture.
Overall, the restaurant chain seems to be doing excellent on handling large number of guests, service and house keeping. It could do better in the taste and flavor...

Read moreA Culinary Oasis on NH 544 Conveniently Located on the busy NH 544, PARAGON continues to set the gold standard for dining. I have been a FAN of PARAGON ( Across its’ Branches ) For over a decade — not just to satiate hunger, but to experience the rich culinary heritage of Kerala served with grace and precision. From the moment you enter, cleanliness and hygiene stand out as a hallmark. The dining area is immaculate, the restrooms spotless, and every corner reflects a culture of care that’s increasingly rare. Service is swift and seamless. During my recent visit ( 3rd June 2025 ) , I was warmly welcomed and promptly seated and served my food order. The seafood soup was delightful — brimming with freshness and layered with coastal flavours that awaken the palate. The beef salad was the true star of my meal experience : succulent, tender strips of beef, tossed in a simple vinegar dressing that allowed the meat to shine through. Generously paired with crisp, vegetables, it was both refreshing and hearty — a rare balance. Special mention must go to Mr. Ganesh Kumar, the Restaurant GM , whose personable demeanour and customer-centric approach elevated my dining experience. He clearly demonstrated to me ALL Guests of PARAGON feel valued with his warm smile. Of course, no review of Paragon is complete without praising their Kerala food options. Having been a Loyal Fan for Over a Decade, I can vouch for the consistency and authenticity of their dishes — whether it’s a spicy fish curry, fragrant biryani, or the humble avial. For hungry and discerning travellers, Paragon is a must-stop for both lunch and dinner.
