I used to be a regular here.. wherever I go to Eranakulam or get my car serviced at the VW service center.
I recently got my car serviced and I came here as usual for breakfast. To my surprise I found out that the management changed so I figured it could only get better.. well I was wrong. I asked for my usual which is idly and filter coffee. I was given 3 rock hard idly which I could use as cricket balls.. the chutney and sambar looked like they were served with precise measurements using tea spoons.
The coffee tasted like waste water. When I asked if it’s filter coffee he looked at me as if I asked for a coffee estate. He took the coffee back and told me that they will make it better.
When I asked the server for more chutney he came with a small spoon and gave me a drop as if it’s some age defying elixir that will keep you young forever.. That’s when I asked if they are trying to save money by skimping on chutney. And not to mention the flies they are everywhere obviously the cleanliness of the kitchen speaks for itself if the restaurant has flies. I didn’t even bother to finish I had a piece of the first idly and due to the lack of service and overall just a bad experience I just got up washed my hands paid and told them if the new management is like this then this place will fail.
I’m 100% sure the next person who came in after me if they asked for idly they would be given my uneaten portion by the restaurant. After all they have to get rich right..
I would never recommend this place. If you like getting taken advantage off or robbed of your hard earned money for mediocre food at an unhygienic restaurant then by all means go ahead. But If you are with family and want quality food and great service and a clean environment go forward towards Alappuza at the next signal there is a Saravana hotel on the left side. Best food and service. I’m sitting here eating ghee roast and drinking coffee while...
Read moreNot my personal experience. An acquaintance of mine recently went to the restaurant with his family and had ordered variety of food. Along with was a plate of king fish fry ( karimeen) . Upon cutting the fish with fork it was revealed that the fish had gone bad and it was stinking. At first the restaurant people tried to avoid admitting their mistake but in the end they accepted it. We blindly believe such well maintained restaurants and pay up good money in return for quality food. But what we do not realize is these restaurants do not even have the basic quality which is maintained at roadside night food joints. They wish to make huge profit by compromising the quality of food and cheating customers like us. In turn we should make such restaurant owners eat their own food. I hope this information gets to as many people as possible
P.S. this is an edit for replying to the owner. I appreciate the quick response for the review. It definitely shows your compassion to adhere to quality. I myself am having a job profile which requires me to travel throughout kerala and mostly depend on restaurants for my meals. To be honest when I see a restaurant with good setup I tend to judge the quality of food to be good and hence have my meal there. But this situation was an eye opener. Anyways, I really wish you can put this experience behind and strive for upholding the quality I used to have as reviewed by many other satisfied customers I see in ur...
Read moreHad an absolutely fantastic lunch at Restaurant Arcadia recently, and I can’t stop thinking about it. The place has such a warm, inviting vibe—nothing too flashy, just comfortable and classy in the best way. We ordered a spread that included Fish Molly, Fish Pollichathu, Kerala meals, Chatti Choru, Chapathi, and some puddings to finish off. Every single dish was spot-on. The Fish Molly was rich and creamy with just the right amount of spice, and the Fish Pollichathu was bursting with flavor—perfectly cooked and wrapped in banana leaf, just how it should be. The meals and Chatti Choru were generous and comforting, full of traditional flavors that felt like home. Even the chapathis were soft and fresh, and the puddings were the perfect sweet ending.
What made the experience even better was the service. Vijaykumar, who attended to us, was exceptional. He was friendly, attentive, and genuinely cared about making sure we had a great time. He gave great suggestions, timed everything perfectly, and had this calm, professional presence that made us feel completely relaxed. It’s rare to find someone who’s so good at what they do and still makes you feel like a valued guest.
Arcadia isn’t just about good food—it’s about the whole experience. And thanks to Vijaykumar and the amazing kitchen team, it was one I’ll definitely be...
