Since we were staying at Rose Residency, which is right opposite Joys Restaurant, we chose to have most of our meals here – and it turned out to be a wonderful decision! . The place has a lively vibe with Hindi and local music playing, and it’s very much a family-friendly restaurant offering a variety of veg and non-veg dishes, along with some Chinese options like soups, noodles, and rice. We tried several dishes and each one had its own charm: Chicken Malabar – juicy, tender chicken pieces in a flavorful curry infused with garam masala. It had just the right spice level and paired perfectly with the hot, soft Kerala parotta. They also serve hot herbal water, slightly reddish in color, boiled with wood bark (a traditional preparation) – said to be good for digestion. A unique and healthy touch! On the second day, we ordered Chicken Alfaham, similar to tandoori but cooked over fire, served with pita bread, mayonnaise, and a deliciously thick and spicy green chutney. An absolute must-try dish. One afternoon, we had their South Indian meal – the sambhar was superb with a rich, thick consistency, and the buttermilk flavored with curry leaves and red chili flakes was simply refreshing. The Fish Pollichathu (wrapped in banana leaf) was decent, though I had higher expectations. The Prawns dry masala, however, was excellent – full of flavor and perfectly spiced. The service throughout was quick, polite, and always with a smile. The staff were very helpful, which added to the overall experience. During our visit, the entrance was beautifully decorated for Onam, giving the restaurant a festive and welcoming atmosphere. Overall, I absolutely loved the food, ambiance, and warm hospitality at Joys Restaurant. A great place to enjoy authentic local dishes at reasonable prices – highly...
Read moreEdit after visiting a second time: Though the service and other aspects are good as before. The food quality has come down. Reordered the chicken shapp curry but was't good as last time. The chicken seems to have been put into the curry at the last minute the pieces were bland and not fused with the curry/spices. Hope they rectify this and catch up on their quality
Original Review: Whole family wanted to go out for dinner and wanted a place with nice ambience. Though have seen the restaurant when passing by never tried it .But decided to give Joy's try this time. The restaurant is situated on the main road and has ample parking in front and back with a security to guide you. The ambience is quite nice and neat with potted plants and nice lighting. The seating capacity seems a bit low though. The servers were quite attentive and gave good suggestions on the dishes.
We were 4 adults and a kid and had ordered 1 chicken biryani, 1 chicken noodles, 1 chicken 65, 1 quarter peri-peri alfahm, 1 chicken shap curry, 1 beef malabari, 6 chapati, 2 porotta and 1 lime juice. The total came to 840/- which we felt was quite reasonable. Almost all the dishes were good. Particularly the chicken 65, alfahm and chicken curry. Might find the quantity could be a bit less though. But seems as mentioned seems ok for the price and ambience.
A nice place for dineout around Irinjalakuda. Hope they keep up the quality...
Read moreBeing a fresh property the dining ambience is worth mentioning. The interior of the restaurant along with cushioned chairs add to the coziness. There is a small waiting area with a sofa for customers who are awaiting for parcel or vacant seats.the restaurant is walled with a see through glass on one side which gives a feeling of outdoor seating The property was highly hygenic and washroom area was also very well maintained. The location is prime right along the highway besides to the mapranam toddy shop. The parking facility is ample with provision for additional parking towards the back of property. The food was a letdown as it failed to keep up with the rest of the initial impressions. It was not bad but was average and we hoped it to be better. They have variety in their menu such as chatti choru and kabsa which is a highlight. The service was quick and there are enough employees to give you a satisfying dining experience. They have a outside counter for juices, shakes, mocktails and arabic dishes such as shawarma. The dishes are priced above average and is a bit expensive considering the locality and they only accept UPI as...
