Pazhamkanji(one day old rice broth) may have centuries of skeptical tales to tell..owing to the taste and typical flavour when it is served with fermented curd and pickles fish curry and raw chilly.it has been the traditional cuisine of the poor..well I am not here to spare the history.. anyways had my taste buds experience enchanting taste reminder of my childhood and my grandmother's skills in preparation of this special food extravaganza called pazhamkanji Three things to keep in mind..while visiting the place Food contents are highly spicy..people with sensitive stomach please be cautious Kanji is served in clay pots u break it u pay for it,😜 3.dont expect a posh setup..it's clean and well kept..and u may have to wait a bit..but it's worth it. The dish has accompaniments of fish curry and fried dry-fish sauted in onion. The fish curry is very hot and spicy. Additionally, you have 'kandhari-mulaku' if you want it even hotter until your nose waters. The shop also offers chicken perattu and fish dishes as per availability. Because the overall taste is very hot and spicy, you may need to calm your tongue with a sweetmeat 'Pal-kova' at the end. The quantity is sumptuous and costs less than 100 for a lunch. The shop is small dingy roadside and hardly has three tables which are always occupied with customers. The parcel service is available, but eating from earthern and may not be comfortable...
Read moreknown for its special pazhankanji- which has kanji(rice gruel), pacha mooru(curd), kappa puzhukk (steamed tapioca),manga uppilittathu(mango pickle) and kandari mulaku (a very spicy type of green chilly). side dishes : onnaka meen varathathu (dry fish fry) which is too yummy and fish curry. For me the quantity of kanji served is very large as they serve in big earthen bowls - i can eat only a quarter of that bowl or maybe half if I'm very hungry. Need to eat with hands- no spoons will be provided.
One of my friends dint like the taste of mooru in the kanji- i wish the owner cud give the option of pouring or not pouring the mooru into the kanji. Surely, some people will extremely find it tasty and nostalgic. I recommend that this food can be tried...
