Hotel Annapoorna — Restaurant in Kerala

I have visited this hotel 2-3 times, first 2 visits I was satisfied with the food . But yesterday 4 of us visited here and had a really bad experience. We asked for menu and they didn't had one...He himself said the menu... He said chicken fry along with all the menu he said ...We opt for that... But he said "may be it would be less because it's almost finished, you can have half chicken fry nd half chilly chicken...". We didn't like chilli chicken still we said ok as it was already late. One of us ordered Dosa also. After some time we got the parotta and dosa without curry. The waiter touch the food without gloves frequently to check if he had given us more than 2 parottas. In our table there was only one glass other 1 glass was used by someone else... We felt the unused glass was not so clean so my sister herself washed the glass and used it. Then we had to wait for a bit long to have the curry...Curry didn't arrived until two of us finished 1 out of 2 parottas and one had finished 1 dosa without curry...I didn't start eating because I wanted chicken fry...At last he bring the curry but chicken fry was not there, chilly chicken was served (taste was not so good, little bit sour taste..parotta and Dosa was good). When we asked curry for dosa there was no sambar nor chatni, he should have informed us it in the beginning. One of us told the waiter he made us wait too long for the curry and our food was half finished, we ordered what he said in the menu but we don't get it, only one glass for four people. The response of waiter was not good, he spoke in an arrogant manner ...he said "we can only serve what we have here, I had waited there and bring the food for you, curry for dosa finishes in evening itself"(but he didn't say it while taking the order). Wasn't it his duty to serve the customer..? Don't we pay for the service..? He said waiting and bringing the food like doing a favour for us...He told that he can't stand here all the time serving the water for us(but still he filled 2 glasses but we were 4) Before we left the hotel I saw fresh chicken fry was preparing there then I don't know why they didn't serve us. If the owner see this comment I want to say that my intention was not to degrade your hotel, EVEN THOUGH ALL THIS HAPPENED IF WAITER HAD GIVEN US THE GLASSES FOR WATER BEFORE WE LEAVE I WOULD NOT HAVE WRITTEN THIS COMMENT... Food should be given with proper care and love. You can make someone's day better or worst through food you serve. Yesterday was one of the worst days we had.

Customer service need improvement

We are ready to wait for the tasty food you serve. But

You have to politely inform that food would be little late.

If you couldn't inform first you can apologise while bringing the food

Apologising is not even necessary, you can politely say that we tried to make it faster but it took a little bit time.

If customer says a genuine complaint don't show your arrogant attitude. Because you are not doing the free service. We pay for the service.

Never ever forget to bring water and glass to the customer .( we didn't get it even...

The taste of the food was average. But the service was horrible. The service boy is considering us some kind of disturbance for him. We were a group of four people, and seated at the AC area. The boy was having why you came here type attitude. The most horrible thing happened at the time of paying the bill. They said, they will not accept any card or online payment method. Please keep in mind this is a restaurant which is stituating at one of the most prime area of trivandrum. And one of the few big restaurant in that area. We paid in cash and one the senior member if the group who was an aged man pointed the need of online payment methods. They are saying it is their right not to accept online payment. I think they did not want the customers to be happy. I am really having some doubt about their economical activities. I think they have to hide something from the government, that is why they are against online payment methods. Even the most common man is embracing the online medium of payment, one of the big restaurant is showing their angry face towards it. Means they want to hid something from government. Also beware non veg items are just mediocore and having very high rates. You can select restaurants like...

I have had no issues from this place till date. From the time it started whenever I'm in trivandrum I buy from here. I usually take only dinner from here. That's when the place is more lively. Maybe the bad reviews were just a bad day I guess.

The Kerala style chilly chicken and pepper chicken from here are my favorites, I always order that and I feel it's one of the best ones in trivandrum. (Along with open house and nikunjam). Paneer is not too bad not too good either.

-Prices even though seem higher but the quantity and freshness makes it up for it, I feel. Just a Heads-up: A half plate chilly is enough for 3 and over filling for 2. (Way better than the Usual misconception of paying 100rs in a small thattukada and having 1/5 of the quantity, WHICH NO ONE UNDERSTANDS in trivandrum🤭)

Staff also are friendly and it is one of the rare hotels where the security guy makes everyone use a sanitizer and checks temp before letting anyone in, that's something you rarely see otherwise anywhere in trivandrum. The Place and staff also look clean which is the need of the Hour. Definitely the food here is worth...
