As I write this review, I am drooling at the memory of my time at this restaurant. My experience began with the friendly staff welcoming me in through the door and guiding me to my seat with a beautiful smile. Bursting with curiosity what concoction of flavours would be provided to me at this restaurant, I ordered some Paneer curry and rice. I didn't expect much as this is a staple in most restaurants I go to and just expected an average curry. Now, as I sat waiting for the food to arrive, the smells from the kitchen began flooding into my nose. I was overwhelmed and could feel my mouth salivating like pavlov's dogs. When the dish finally arrived, it was nothing short of art on a plate. The paneer curry was presented in a rich, vibrant sauce that shimmered under the light, and the aroma was intoxicating. The first bite was a revelation—it was as though my taste buds had been awakened from a long slumber. The paneer was perfectly soft and creamy, soaking up the luscious, spice-laden gravy that danced between tangy, savoury, and subtly sweet notes. Each bite seemed to tell a story, and I found myself savouring every moment.

The rice was light and fragrant, a perfect companion to the bold flavours of the curry. The combination of the two was harmonious, each element enhancing the other without overpowering it. What impressed me the most was the balance of spices; they were bold but never overwhelming, and the layers of flavour unfolded with each bite, making me want to dig in more.

The staff, ever attentive, checked in to ensure everything was to my liking, and their warmth only added to the experience. By the time I finished, I was already plotting my next visit to explore more of the menu.

This restaurant didn’t just serve food. It created a memory, an experience that I will eagerly share with friends and family. If you’re looking for a place that delivers not just great food but a sensory journey, this is it. I cannot recommend it...

Since we weren’t particularly impressed with the vegetarian restaurants in Cherthala town, we decided to try Onam Restaurant, which we discovered through a quick Google search for "vegetarian restaurant near me" while filling up petrol at the Ashwathi Pump near X-ray Junction.

I must say, this is a clean restaurant offering delicious food in a pleasant ambiance. And it is a fully air-conditioned restaurant.

On my first visit, we enjoyed a traditional Kerala Sadya. It was the most authentic Kerala Sadya we’ve ever had from a restaurant, and we left thoroughly satisfied.

We were so impressed that we returned the same evening. This time, we tried the masala dosa and coffee. The masala dosa was flavourful, and the coffee, served in a slightly larger cup reminiscent of home, was equally delightful.

The next day, we visited again. I ordered poori masala, while my wife tried the veg biryani. The poori masala stood out, though I felt it could have been served as a spicy side dish alongside the modest rice portion of the biryani. Despite this, my wife thoroughly enjoyed her meal.

As someone who is generally a non-vegetarian, I was on the lookout for vegetarian options while observing the Vritham for my Sabarimala pilgrimage. With its consistent quality and taste, I can confidently say this is the best vegetarian restaurant in Cherthala.

Rating: 10/10 We left with the thought that we’ll...

Stopped by for lunch on a Tuesday. There wasn't much crowd, restruant was mostly empty. Sadya was priced very well. All the items had distinct flavour. Person like me who doesn't eat much spice could comfortably eat rice with dal and pulliserry - different items had different spice levels. The serving people very polite and attentive. There is parking spot in the porch area. There is a wash area and single stall washroom for men and women in the back of restaurant. Very clean. The establishment looked very clean, and was probably mildly air conditioned. Only think I didn't like was that meal was not piping hot. It was room temp to mildly warm. Menus I found are attached.

I recently visited ONAM Restaurant and had a delightful dining experience. The highlight of my meal was the Nool Appam, which was perfectly soft and paired wonderfully with their flavorful curries. The vada was crispy, light, and absolutely delicious. To top it all off, their coffee was rich and aromatic, the perfect way to end the meal. The ambiance of the restaurant was warm and welcoming, with a touch of Kerala's traditional charm. The staff was attentive and made sure I had everything I needed. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I’d highly recommend ONAM Restaurant to anyone craving authentic Kerala flavors.

A south indian vegetarian restaurant. Adjacent to the highway. Need to pre-pay/buy coupons before sitting at the table. During rush hour may cause queing. Food: Vegetarian cuisine, menu is available next to the counter. Taste: Ghee Roast Dosa was good. Sambhar was good. Chutney is a bit runny. Portion Size: Fair to huge Time to table: A few minutes. Toilets: Clean, but only 3 which may be a bit inconvenient for bus travellers or those who are stopping for freshening up as well as having food.
