Poems Cafe — Restaurant in Kerala

It's been long since I found something like this. Ever since I relocated to Kerala I have been looking for a place like this. Great Ambiance! It says "poems by the art" it's actually " poems for the stomach from the heart"!!

Most diners in Kerala look for bulk at low cost. So you would find many restaurants serving out huge volumes at pretty low cost. Food may be tasty and match the local requirement but fine dining is not the norm here.

So when one finds an outlet that offers a variety of high quality continental fare, it's a treat and believe it, the price is very reasonable.

A plate of four tiger prawns beautifully done to golden brown and aesthetically laid out is available at 890 . It's very reasonable for a yummy filling serving. Loved it.

Then parking ! What a relief! Never had the luxury of such a parking anywhere in Ernakulam . Wow.

Why then four stars and NOT five??

First - The toilet is just one and can be a choke point. They need to find an additional one fast! So many patrons in at the same time, it can be a problem. Yes the guests are mostly young stil...

Second. The serving plate is too small for the volume of food. For example the tiger prawns were hanging over the plate . ( They can easily serve smaller prawns and make it good . Hope they don't do it)

Third. The seating is too less . I saw people waiting. Their clientele seems to be loyal. Brand loyalty?? ( Their fod quality MUST be good that people are willing to wait even in the noon).

Love continental? It's the place to go. I Will go...

Visited for brunch and found the overall experience to be quite average. We ordered the Classic Caesar Salad along with two beverages – Lemon Mint and Spicy Guava Spritzer. Unfortunately, both drinks were disappointing. They tasted more like artificial flavoring rather than real lemon or guava. The Lemon Mint was particularly hard to finish.

The salad was underwhelming as well. While I did enjoy the inclusion of cheese and dried tomatoes, the dish as a whole fell flat. The flavors were muted, the lettuce didn’t feel fresh or crisp, and the proportion of lettuce to other ingredients was off – it felt like mostly leaves with very little else.

Service was average. The staff were polite but seemed somewhat indifferent and inattentive. Cleanliness was also a concern – we noticed dead mosquitoes on the table, and there were more flying around inside the café. This was surprising because the place was much better maintained during my visit last year.

The ambiance, however, is still a highlight. The effort put into creating a nature-inspired setting really shows, and it’s quite charming. There’s ample parking for both cars and two-wheelers, which is a plus.

That said, the food portions are on the smaller side, and the prices are on the higher end. Also, outdoor seating isn’t ideal in the evening due to bugs, and despite the café’s large exterior, the actual seating space inside feels limited.

This review is to get the founders attention; cause the potential of this cafe is enormous yet plenty of rooms for raising the benchmark. Both founders were there while I was dining during the weekend; they do not interact with guests to build cordial patronage. the food / portions / pricing require tweaking. i guess, during weekend evening two serving people were struggling; drinking water refilling ( after requesting ) not done. while serving the BBQ pizza ( took the suggestion from the serving personnel ) didn't bother to serve oregano flakes & chilli flakes. ( had to request ) the crust was salty and given the feedback. The roasted beef salad was well made ( shared image ). The seating near the paddy field requires some plant cleanup. The walkway under the extended roofing required trimming.. one young parents with toddler were struggling with seating and moving around. ( the founders were around then, could've interacted and bring in more ease for the whole dining out experience. ) update the menu on website, cause the printed menu ( paper ) is impossible to read during late night outdoor dining with decor lighting, so checked on website menu ( not updated, the hot beverages etc ) The next visit might improve the review rating, Ms chippy. good luck with...
