Read moreAt the beginning honestly I was really happy to see this authentic arabic cuisine restaurant gift people of kollam a taste of real middle eastern food culture through their effort in giving consistent food quality, top class ambience and a valet service facility which is hard to find in a normal restaurant in kollam.
I am a person who believes the saying : "You get what you pay for" yes, to get an excusive experience one has to pay a premium definitely from the customer's point of view but the restaurant needs to know that they should deliver what the customer pays them.
I had a quarter portion of mutton mandi and kunafa from this restaurant. each time I visit this restaurant I can see the portion size of mutton reducing and portion size of rice increasing which is not an ethical practice that too when a customer pays a tidy sum to enjoy the experience. You can charge high price no problem but the portion size of mutton per serving should increase. Being an NRI Gulf Malayali I'm aware of the portion size for a mutton mandi given in restaurants there. The serving size of mutton mandi in Qahwa restaurant has day and night difference from whats served in the real middle east.
Also i'm sorry to say the floor staffs in the restaurant even during off peak hours are giving bad service. They don't listen to orders properly, does not give even what one ask especially a glass of water where one has to wait for long.
Dear Team Qahawa, please do take this review as an opportunity and a responsiblity to improve this shortfall and not something personal to yourself. I do hope you'll inspect these claims and correct these issues for my next...
Read moreI am giving food a four star . First of all let me start with the hospitality and ambience. The place is so good the lighting seating arrangements even washroom was was very clean. The kitchen is open kitchen , the way they serve food was exceptional, The head chef such a sweet and humble person personally came and talked to us. Now about food , we had Turkish pide(beef and cheese) it was so yummy , very hot and also spicy, it was prepared in a Turkish and Indian style. Next week ordered was mixed platter which included meat(kebab rolls , beef sliced steaks, chicken grilled , kebabs) mushrooms , fries , yogurt, salads, Mandi rice and dips , to be Frank it was tasty but the chicken and beef sliced were average taste, but the kebab rolls were good and also the mushroom cheese .(Hope they include sea food and make it mixed platter then it will be worth for the price)Dips were different from usuals and fries were also good. Then we had Arabic champagne which was fresh and refreshing. Sweets were quite disappointing, as a kunafe lover I would always want cheese in my kunafe but I ordered this pistachio kunafe and I think maybe authentic Turkish kunafe doesn't include cheese (but so far from the places I had kunafe before pistachio always had cream cheese in it), ordered caramel basbousa was not upto my taste too and personally I didn't like it (it was not soft and egg taste was more prominent) ...over all I would give a 5 for their hospitality and ambience and a 4 for the food. But I would recommend everyone to go and try as it was a different experience from usual Indian Turkish...
