Located on the banks of the Periyar in Kadamakkudy, this sweet little restaurant gives you nice views of the river, Chinese fishing nets and the Kothad-Moolampilly bridge. We dropped in for lunch and to our good fortune, there weren’t too many people on a pleasant Saturday afternoon. The menu has quite a few options and you can choose either one of the three thaalis or a la carte. We ordered fish curry thaali (₹250), sea food thaali (₹350), beef coconut fry (₹280) and grilled prawns (₹350) along with the customary naringya vellum (lime water). The fish curry thaali has fish curry, thoran, avial, sambhar, root vegetable, unpolished rice, curd, red and green coconut chutney, pickle, papadum and awesome palada payasam. The sea food thaali has in addition to the above, fried kozhuva (anchovies) and prawn masala. Thaalis are sumptuous and very filling, additional rice and refills are provided except for curry / fried fish. The beef ullarthiyathu and grilled prawns were great and portions were good as well. Staff are really friendly and service was very prompt, they also inform you that food will take 15-20 mins to be served. Our total bill came to around ₹2,350 for 4 people which we thought was well worth it, given the quality of food and service, overall hygiene, ambiance and tranquility. Highly...
Read moreI recently dined at Riverside Grill, an exquisite restaurant that truly lives up to its name. Nestled by the riverside, it offers an unparalleled view of the iconic Chinese fishing nets, adding to the serene and picturesque ambiance. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed to resemble a boat, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal.
For dinner, I sampled their fish moly, seafood platter, and kizhi prawns. Each dish was exceptional in both quality and taste, making for a memorable culinary experience. The fish moly stood out with its delicate flavors, while the seafood platter offered a delightful variety of fresh seafood. The kizhi prawns were cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor.
The ambiance of the restaurant is top-notch, providing a perfect setting for a relaxing evening. The staff were attentive and courteous, contributing to the overall positive experience. Despite the slightly confusing route to the restaurant—due to a lack of signboards and poorly lit streets—the effort to find it was well worth it.
In summary, Riverside Grill excels in every aspect, from its unique boat-like design and stunning riverside view to its delectable cuisine and excellent service. I would rate it a perfect 10/10 and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a remarkable...

1/5 Stars - Disappointing Experience & Broken Promises
I'm extremely disappointed with my recent visit to Nihara Riverside Grill. The staff's poor management and failure to keep promises ruined what could have been a pleasant dining experience.
The Issues:
Seat Change Debacle: We were initially seated at our preferred table, but the staff abruptly asked us to move to a different table, siting "table management" issues. This was inconvenient and disrupted our dining experience. Bait-and-Switch Payasam Promise: To compensate for the seat change, the staff promised us a complimentary Payasam dessert. However, when we asked for it, they reneged on their promise, claiming it was "not possible." This blatant broken promise left a sour taste.
Other Concerns:
Slow service Lack of communication from staff Unapologetic attitude when issues were raised
Suggestions:
Improve table management and communication Train staff to keep promises and apologize when mistakes occur Enhance customer service.
