Tharavadu Restaurant: A Hidden Gem for Authentic Kerala Flavours Tharavadu Restaurant may be small in size, but it delivers big on taste and authenticity. Perfect for those looking for budget-friendly dining options, this humble eatery captures the essence of traditional Kerala cuisine. Though the menu is limited, every item is carefully prepared and packed with flavour. One of the major highlights is their live appam and beef counter, where food is freshly made right in front of you. The beef curry, paired with hot, soft appams, is a must-try and is easily the most recommended combo here. Tharavadu proudly displays its commitment to quality at the entrance — they use only pure coconut oil and avoid artificial colours and additives. This attention to detail in both ingredients and preparation gives the food a homely and healthy touch. Despite being a small setup, the dining space is neat and functional, offering a no-frills but satisfying experience. Whether you’re a local craving familiar tastes or a visitor eager to explore Kerala’s flavours on a budget, Tharavadu Restaurant won’t disappoint. It’s a true hidden gem where simplicity meets great taste.

Tharavadu, once a reliable culinary destination, seems to have lost its charm amidst recent experiences. While it used to offer a decent array of non-vegetarian options, the quality has significantly declined. The presence of rats during dining, especially in a season prone to zoonoses, is concerning and unsettling. Additionally, encountering a waiter spitting outside the window nearby is not only disgusting but also appetite-ruining. The interior ambiance suffers from both heat and an unpleasant mixture of curry smells. Despite these drawbacks, the tea stands out as exceptionally good. However, enjoying it peacefully amidst the prevailing uncleanliness proves challenging. Overall, Tharavadu's decline in quality and cleanliness detracts from the dining experience, making it difficult to recommend with confidence.

Tried Porotta, Appam, Chicken Curry and Vegetable Kuruma. The Porotta was so soft. Quality food at an affordable price. Sufficient quantity. Supportive staff. The only issue I felt was the washroom; even though the washroom was clean, it would be good if you paste a "No Smoking" board inside it.

23:25 hours. Banana Fry was too small in size. Conveyed the same to the bearer, while he acknowledged & said another chef had made this, hence it is smaller in size. I asked him to pack three, while he was willing to pack four for the price of 3, to compensate the small size. But, I still wanted to voice my disappointment to the person handling cash. His response was blunt. He said that this is the norm here & we have been selling this for the entire day. I disagreed & said this is not worth ₹10 per piece, since I have tried Banana Fry from other outlets, they were not too small or big, but this is not worth ₹10 per Fry. Moreover, I had tried the same (Banana Fry) from this same outlet & it was not this much small. The person in the cash counter was just saying "this is the norm here" and refused to reduce the price per Fry. Looks like the person handling cash, wearing tees (uniform) was not aware that the bearer had already offered me 4 Fry's for the price of 3. The in-charge was super adamant & didn't even had the basic courtesy of accepting their error, instead kept arguing with the customer, which is a sign of untrained & arrogant staff hence I walked out without purchase. Super bad experience & looting customers. Not willing to accept their error, hence Zero mark for...

Good food. Poor customer service. Staff have no respect towards customers. Making one wait is understandable. But after keeping customer waiting for more than 30 minutes, informing the customer that the ordered item is finished (I saw a person coming after me getting his order faster). Then the tried to sell me an item with higher price. I had to ask to cancel my order and ask them to return money (after 35-40 minutes of waiting for order). They were not willing to do that initially and asked me to explain why!?. Atlast they refunded.

Let me tell you, the food is good. I have take-out multiple times. Price is alright. But customer service is 0. I even saw there was a quarrel among employees (the one in counter and another one, a cook from kitchen). I would strictly avoid this place from now on. If owner is watching this space, please consider this otherwise you'll lose customers like...
