Being a hardcore fan of their pizzas, I was honoured to be invited to the launch of @Siji's Pizza Street third branch this week. First impressions – Located in Kazhakkoottam, opposite Thakkaram restaurant, it’s right on the roadside, highly convenient for those passing by. The interior is bright, with quirky designs similar to those at their other branches. The tower of Pisa provides a fun photo opportunity. It is however, the smallest outlet yet.
We were greeted so warmly by the Siji’s family, and given a little snack box while we waited for the inauguration. This had a cutlet, veg samosa, cookie and a juice.
The menu has undergone a redesign, and boasts some new dishes. While we wanted to try all the new items, we couldn’t possibly eat that much. We finally settled for a KL01 (Kerala style beef pizza) and a Super Mario (Chicken and mushroom pizza with a creamy mushroom sauce).
The KL 01 is one of those flavours that I think all beef-lovers will like… spicy, well cooked beef chunks on the Siji’s classic thin crust... it was just delicious. This was one of the winning entries of the competition in EAT, and it was the unanimous winner at the tasting session conducted then.
The Super Mario tasted completely different, but I must say, the mushroom sauce works really really well on pizza. It was a wonderful, creamy, cheesy texture that I loooooved! Will definitely be ordering this one many more times. They have a veg version of this as well, called Groot (yes, the tree (haha) from Guardians of the Galaxy), with paneer and mushroom toppings.
They also have veg and non-veg pizzas with a spicy honey chilli sauce, which I will be reviewing next, cos it sounds delicious. So does the Parmigos, which is a winning combination of chicken, parmesan and garlic. I already know I will love it. Some new appetizers are on the new menu as well, including pizza minions, pizza boat and garlic bread strips. All in all, it’s going to take a few more visits to finish tasting everything. I’m so looking forward to it!

Read moreI loved the pizzas we ordered! We ordered the 18inch pizzas and we all enjoyed the different flavours. They were delivered fresh and warm. I was impressed by their service and delivery until I asked them for the bill. Since my dad took the food from their delivery guy, he paid up thinking it was an online billing. So, I WhatsApped them asking for the bill. They mentioned that they were out of printing paper and hence couldn't produce a bill. Now in few places, no bill means food is free, right!! I went on pressuring them for a bill and finally I got a screenshot of the pizzas ordered and final amount. Again, I asked them to give me individual prices of the pizzas as the new price wasn't updated on the websites or any of the apps or images on Google. I got a msg on WhatsApp of the prices on the pizzas ordered, which totalled to the amount I paid. Not happy of this method but I cross checked to confirm prices. So Siji's, please take note of this and make sure your produce your bill professionally!!! Others, do ask for your bill wherever it is.
Update: I appreciate the GM making an effort to get all the details and calling me up to rectify the mistake on seeing this post. Thank you Siji's management for...
Read moreIf only option of zero stars is there. The worst food I ever had ordered chicken creme pasta from this shop through Swiggy today. I have attached the photo of the delivered item as it will speak lot than my frustration to endure this experience. It was absolutely tasteless, its bitter to taste. The horrible smell of bad cheese gave me a headache so bad that I had to take paracetamol tablet. The creme was no where to be found, it was just some bad white thing sticking to the pasta. There was hardly any chicken in the plate, the ones were tiny and uncooked as well There was absolutely no salt in the food and I'm seeing these many onion slices in a pasta for the first time. I only took a bite and threw away rest of it. My room smells of bad cheese and is giving me headache. Now I'm worried about getting food poisoning from the two bites I took Even maggi instant pasta would have tasted way better. I hope whoever made this horrendous food, would not do this again. If I hadn't thrown it out, I would have gone and met the chef personally and ask him or her to taste it herself or himself and watch his expression as the bad smell and the bitter taste...
