Declining Taste but Still a Decent Spot

I’ve visited this place multiple times (4-5 times), and while it was once exceptional, my recent experience was somewhat disappointing.

The pork chaps, which used to be their best dish, no longer have the same melt-in-the-mouth texture. It was once outstanding, but now it’s just okay—not exceptional or great like before.

Kallappam was soft but had only an average taste, nothing special. Palappam was cold and slightly dried, making it just okay rather than enjoyable.

The beef roast was good but not great. The overpowering chili flavor, along with the addition of half-cooked capsicum and tomato, altered the authentic beef roast taste. Perhaps it pairs better with toddy, but as a standalone dish, it was not as impressive.

The pricing remains reasonable, and the overall quality is still at a borderline acceptable level—not a bad experience, but not as satisfying as before. The taste of their signature dish, pork chaps, was the biggest letdown.

Old Review:

This was an excellent place for food. The pork chaps were the GOAT, truly exceptional. The ambiance was good, and the service was okay. Appam and beef fry were also enjoyable. They serve different types of toddy, which looked really good. It used to be the best place in Pala for spicy food, and pork chaps were highly recommended.

Good parking is available, and they accept both UPI and cash payments.

I still consider this a decent place, but the taste of their signature dish has declined, which was disappointing. Hope they bring back the...

Very good atmosphere in middle of rubber trees. delicious food, specially the duck roast, prawns, fish fry, appam and beef roast were the highlights. Everything at reasonable rate

The place is heavily packed all the time and there might quite a little wait to get the table; but the wait is worth.

quiet good parking facility

Very good atmosphere to enjoy with family or friends. Foods are delicious.

The food was good, but not the toddy. Toddy tastes bad like they mixed something else in it. The area and the atmosphere are good.

That was the first time experience having my whole family together in a toddy bar.. We went there around 6pm.. it was a really a nice experience for them actually. If we are going first time really we need google map to help us to get there... As it is near to pala- kottayam road. Food was really good. We tried few good different varieties of food and it's all were upto to the mark ‼️.. loved it must visit when we have holiday...

Me and my friends came to Kottayam from Bangalore. We wanted to go to a nice Naadan Shop. 1. Food - 10/10 food from this place. Warevahhhh. What great food. We had Appam which was just perfect and then Karimeen Fry which was a little underwhelming but still very good. Now then, let me just get to the Beef Roast/Fry. Gomma super na this only. What taste bro. OMG, this was the best Beef I've had in my life EVER. Highly Recommended. 2. Service - That Chettan that was serving food for us. Ooof what a guy. 10/10 service. 3. Atmosphere - Although this was in a very shady place, and it was a little tough to get to the destination it was worth the trouble one hundred percent. What an atmosphere warevahhhhh gomma restaurant na like this only you should build otherwise don't build only. Whoever is the owner of this place, THANK YOU SO MUCHHH. WE LOVED IT SO MUCH.
