VELOCITY KANNUR — Restaurant in Kerala

I went there on Christmas Day for lunch, we were a group of 7 family members. It was supposed to be an unlimited orders for a set menu of starters , soups , main course and dessert for 999 + tax. It sounded like a really good deal but we were played. We had to pay the amount in advance at the reception before getting the table.We reached the place by 12.30 and there was only another table that was filled. In the menu there were about 10 starters. We asked to bring each plate of starters and soup. They brought 2 plates of kebabs for us quickly, they also got us the soup which was served cold. Most of us skipped breakfast before coming here because we were preparing to eat this lunch and so we were quite hungry. So we were waiting eagerly for the next items. Unfortunately it never came. I am guessing it was some cheap hotel management gimmick to make profit without giving food. Whenever we asked the waiters they just kept saying the kitchen is busy. But there were only 4 or 5 tables filled by then. We got the next items after 2.45 after waiting for more than 2 hours. By that time we had lost our appetite so did our mood and spirit. Our group had members of the age group between 23- 75 years of grandchildren to grandparents. It was such a horrible experience for all of us. I have never experienced such pathetic service in my entire lifetime. We literally had to beg for food , we were so starved we didn’t have the energy to fight especially on a Christmas Day. And we were not the only one experiencing this. There was another big group from the naval academy and they kept walking to the waiters asking for what they have ordered.There was some manager wearing a blazer, when we asked him he was so bloody rude,I don’t know his name but I will never forget his face and will never forgive his bad attitude. Even though we received such a terrible service I should say the quality of food and beverages are good and so is the ambience . I was really happy to see such a place in Kannur. But if these are the people running the show and if this is the message the management is trying to portray and asking their employees to do I really don’t know what to say. I...

Mixed Experience at Velocity, Kannur

I recently visited Velocity in Kannur with high expectations, but my experience was a mix of positives and negatives.

Food: 4/5 The food at Velocity was undoubtedly one of the highlights. I ordered a few appetizers and main courses, and each dish was flavorful and well-presented. Especially the pork ribs, kanthari chicken etc. The portions were generous, and the prices were reasonable.

Location: 2/5 Unfortunately, the location of Velocity is a major letdown. Situated on a crowded junction, the pub lacks adequate parking space, making it a challenge to find a spot. The surrounding area is congested, which can be frustrating for drivers.

Ambience: 4/5 Once inside, the atmosphere of the pub is lively and inviting. The décor is modern, and the lighting is just right. However, the crowd was not very friendly, probably because of the Vacation Time which affected our overall experience.

Service: 3/5 The bouncers/staff at the entrance were surprisingly rude and unaccommodating. They seemed more interested in flexing their muscles than ensuring a smooth entry process. However, the wait staff were attentive and efficient.

Drinks: 4/5 The drinks menu was impressive, with a wide range of options. The cocktails were well-mixed, and the beers were chilled to perfection.

Overall: 3.5/5 While Velocity, Kannur has its strengths, particularly in food and drinks, the location and crowd issues detract from the experience. With some improvements in customer service and a more welcoming atmosphere, this pub could reach its full potential.

Recommendation: If you're looking for a lively night out with good food and drinks, Velocity might be worth a visit. However, be prepared for the challenges of parking and navigating the crowded junction.

This place is superb Ambience :- very nice , compared to any pub in other metros.seating is superb , music is also nice , no clutter in sound quality , sound is also nicely managed in which there in stress on ones speech .excellant acoustic work .nice mood lighting also .

Food : - also superb , in fact the head chef, Shibu also looked after our specific requirement to a great extent .but quantity served can be worked upon a little portions are just good for one person .

Service : - slightly lacking, always have ro get up and look for someone .

Smoking room :- nicely made .

Washrooms: - super clean and modern setup

Bar :- must say , a very well stocked one , but yes certain room for improvement still exists , with the collection of beers and wines .and of course they should have the option of buying the bottle at a slightly lesser rate than the usual 60 ml rates , like prevalent in most of the upscale bars .malyalee likes to drink sometimes with a bottle on the table .good presentation and taste of cocktails and mocktails ( mixology)
