We decided to have both our wedding and reception at Whitegate Residency in Vaikom. We had advance-booked 6 rooms from both the bride’s and groom’s side. But unfortunately, the overall experience was very disappointing and stressful.
Firstly, without informing or getting consent from us, the hotel opened an additional room for the makeup artist, and we were unexpectedly charged for two extra rooms. When we questioned this, the staff pretended they didn’t know about the rooms we had already booked—even though the same person who opened rooms for our relatives was the one who opened the extra room.
The rooms were not clean at all. Under the beds, it was full of dust, and the bathrooms were not properly maintained. Some of our guests even developed allergic reactions due to the poor cleanliness. On the morning of the wedding, there was no water supply. We had to call the front desk at 3 AM to get it fixed—which caused unnecessary stress on such an important day.
The general manager was extremely rude and disrespectful to our guests when we politely raised concerns. Instead of helping us, he argued and blamed us. This is not the kind of attitude you expect from a 4-star hotel.
Also, despite paying a good amount for the event, they made us pay an additional fee for parking security—something that was never mentioned at the time of booking. The overall service was unprofessional, and we constantly had to follow up for everything—from room keys to basic amenities.
We felt like we were being taken advantage of, especially since we didn’t have many venue options in Vaikom. It seemed like they were only focused on making money from wedding events and didn’t care about the comfort or satisfaction of the guests.
Overall, it was a frustrating experience. If you’re planning to book this place, make sure to confirm everything in writing—from rooms to service details—and prepare for poor hospitality. I would not recommend this venue to anyone unless there are no...

A Special mention to Vishnu for ensuring late night check-in is handled without delay. ||||Room - is well maintained and has all the facilities of a 4 star hotel. It is spacious, neatly maintained. Washroom was also neat with Shaving Kit, Dental Kit etc was a surprise and a special mention to Management for being so thoughtful.||||Only 2 things that need urgent attention are;||1. Lift - Lift is 90's model which definitely need a upgrade. It doesnt go with the ambience of the hotel. While entering lift, guest may feel whether rooms will be good or not and that doubt is not good and for no good reason brings the rating of exceptionally well maintained and polite staff down.||||2. Breakfast - Definitely needs an attention by Chef. Food always distinguishes hotel and if not served properly doesnt encourage a long stay. While the spread had combination of continental, North Indian and South Indian, it wasnt served hot. There was lack of Restaurant staff members too. There were only 2 during my stay and hardly 3 tables occupied, while the staff did fantastic job in ensuring they handle all guest at restaurant politely as well as trying their best to serve them at the earliest it did actually take lot of time. if the Restaurant is full then imagine how worse it may become. ||||The quality of Breakfast, how it is served and most importantly staff strength needs a serious attention.||||Apart from Breakfast experience, i was totally satisfied with stay and i would surely come back when ever iam visiting Vaikom||||For all new guest, hotel is right at the heart of city, 2-3min drive/10min walk to famous Vaikom Temple. To all those looking for hotel, "not resort", can surely opt for this hotel. Check-in/check-out, ambience and room stay will not...
