Visited this place again after a year. Previously I had given two stars. Now I wish I could give none.
Arrived at 1:30 pm and was seated. Ambience was as expected. Being in a university campus, there are many students talking and chatting. Waited for 20 minutes after which I was offered a glass of water. I asked the waiter to take my order but he was gone. Still waiting to give a small order of Rawa Dosa and Lime Soda. It is 2:30 pm now. I am not creating a scene because I want to find out by what time they realise that they are supposed to ask me for my order like any waiter should.
I have always been impressed by ICH service and food in multiple branches. For some reason this ICH has two waiters serving 25-30 tables of four. Half of the time you don't see them because they go into the kitchen to place the order instead of putting it through the cashier. Sometimes you will wonder if they are waiters or a government clerk "babu" in disguise, as you need to shout and scream until they grace a glance upon your seemingly worthless presence in their establishment.
I noticed how people have posted 4-5 star reviews. I don't remember if this place provides incentives for good reviews or whether their customers have never had any experience in any average restaurant. The university canteen had three times the crowd and yet provided food within 15 minutes maximum. Sadly it was closed during the pandemic. This place should be closed down out of sheer human decency. The fact that no one caters to you in a restaurant while only two tables keep getting served again and again is extremely depressing. As I pick up my bag to leave without being served, I miss my mother who would never keep me waiting had I asked...

The Indian Coffee House is more than just a restaurant – it’s an experience steeped in nostalgia and tradition. With its old-world charm, vintage decor, and uniformed waiters donning traditional turbans, the ambiance takes you back to a simpler time. It’s a place where conversations flow freely, and time seems to slow down, allowing one to truly savor the moment.
The menu is simple yet satisfying, offering a wide variety of South Indian and North Indian dishes, along with their signature filter coffee that remains a crowd favorite. The masala dosa is crisp and perfectly spiced, served with tangy sambar and coconut chutney. Their cutlets, omelets, and sandwiches have a distinct homemade flavor that reminds you of classic comfort food. And of course, no visit is complete without sipping their strong, aromatic coffee – a true delight for coffee lovers.
What makes Indian Coffee House stand out is its affordability and accessibility. It’s a haven for students, artists, writers, and thinkers alike. Despite the modest pricing, the quality and quantity of food are commendable. The staff, though sometimes stretched thin, are polite and committed to maintaining the legacy of the place.
Overall, Indian Coffee House offers a slice of history with every bite. It’s a place that respects tradition while serving timeless flavors. Whether you’re looking for a quiet place to read, catch up with an old friend, or just enjoy a hearty meal, this iconic chain never...
Read moreNot so good, average quality of food , the washing of utensils can't be trusted , most importantly the service is very very slow , like for a usual and common thing dosa , you have to wait nearly 25 - 30 minutes and this thing was same for everyone sitting there. You shall not expect silence as it is a university ICH so it is crowded most of the time and many people from teachers to students (even of other colleges ) come here . The menu is good but since my dosa took 30 min. , Don't expect any gravy item before 40-45 min. It is a good place to chill with your 3-4 friends and have coffee because more than that are unmanageable as seating capacity per table is only 4 . The waiters are well dressed in white clothes ( as every ICH) . If you don't have good option nearby you can visit this , but I would not suggest it until there is no other option . I also ordered cold coffee (38 rs.) which was not at all good , it was the most watery cold coffee I had ever seen. Price there is at a little bit higher side seeing all these things , but yeah if you are university person you will be visiting it atleast once in a month . TBH I would give it 2.5 stars that to for it's accessibility ( has 2 entrances one from main road and other in university) and...
