Disappointing Experience Despite Previous Visits
I've been a loyal customer of Buono, visiting five times before, and every experience had been beyond amazing—until this time. We arrived at 9 PM, well within their listed closing time of 10 PM (as per Google), but the service was shockingly poor.
From the moment we entered, the staff—especially the lady at the counter—was unwelcoming. She made faces and ignored us, despite us repeatedly calling for someone to bring the menu. It took 20 minutes just to get drinking water, and even that happened only after they first handed us empty glasses and left us waiting.
We ordered Aglio Olio pasta, Mediterranean pizza, cheese & garlic bread, tiramisu, and iced tea. While most of the food maintained its usual quality, the Aglio Olio pasta—my regular order—was far below average this time. I tried getting the staff's attention to address this, but no one responded, leaving me frustrated and forced to eat it as it was.
What truly ruined the experience was the staff’s rude behavior, especially the lady at the counter. She spoke so loudly that I couldn’t even hold a conversation with my friend. From 9:40 PM onwards, she kept saying “Aye, pack up, pack up” and, in Marathi, “Tyanna kay pahije ajun? Lavkar de, nighaila pahije, time zala ahe”(which roughly translates to "What else do they want? Serve them quickly, they need to leave, it's closing time.")
This was completely unacceptable. We were well within the restaurant’s official hours and should not have been rushed out or treated with such hostility. I hope the management addresses this behavior, as it tarnishes the otherwise great reputation of the place.
Would I visit again? I’m not...
Read moreVisited this nice petit restaurant on New Year’s Eve. There aren’t too many tables in the restaurant. So you might have to wait if you go on one of the holidays or long weekends. They grow their own micro greens in the restaurant itself, Pretty cool. Below are the items we ordered - For the Appetisers we had 2 varieties of Breads, Cheese & garlic and Cheese & herbs. Both of them were nice. The cheese & herbs was a Jain version and they enjoyed it. Verdure - Liked the pizza. It was well made and well cooked. Paneer Bhut Jolokia - Loved this one more than the verdure. It isn’t very spicy so don’t worry about the chillies too much. Tiramisu - We rarely get eggless Tiramisu and getting such a delectable one here was absolutely amazing. Must try! We loved it so much that we ordered a second one. Matcha green tea pannacotta - It was nice. The matcha flavour was perfect. It wasn’t overpowering the pannacotta so someone who doesn’t enjoy too much matcha can also have it. Burnt butter and praline ice cream - It was flavoursome and very much palatable. Loved it. Kombucha - We called for 3 different ones - Blueberry, Mango & Lemon. Enjoyed all 3 flavours, but Lemon was the strongest of all. Mango flavour wasn’t that strong. Would have loved if the Mango flavour was more evident in the Kombucha.
All in all it is a very nice restaurant to have authentic Neapolitan pizzas. PS - they do home deliveries to most...
Read moreWe stopped by Buono Pizzeria in Alibaug on our way back to Mumbai — and it turned out to be one of the most memorable parts of our trip!
As soon as we entered, it started raining — totally unexpected, but it made the whole vibe perfect. Sitting in that cozy, open-air setting with rain falling around us, enjoying fresh hot pizzas and chatting with friends — it honestly felt like a scene out of a movie.
We ordered quite a few things (you’ll see them in the photos I'm uploading), including:
Pesto Chicken Pizza
Peri Peri Chicken Pizza
Chicken Sizzle Pizza
Calzone Peri Peri
Spicy Piccante Wings
Tiramisu
Rosella and Basil Lemonades, along with a few Cokes and even Alibaug Mango Ice Cream.
Every dish we tried was flavorful and freshly prepared. The pizzas had a great crust and were generously topped, the tiramisu was light and just the right amount of sweet, and the wings were perfectly spicy. The lemonades were refreshing and balanced out the flavors nicely.
The service was smooth, and though the prices are a bit premium, I’d say it was totally worth it for the quality of food and the experience we had.
If you're visiting Alibaug, I’d definitely recommend stopping by here — especially if the weather’s playing along. It’s a peaceful, scenic spot with great food and a...
