I recently visited Shivendra Hotel at Handewadi, and here’s my honest review:
Great for Non-Veg Lovers: This restaurant is known for its mutton, chicken, and egg dishes. I tried the Mutton and Chicken Thali, Mutton Dalcha, and Daal Khichadi. The Mutton Dalcha was especially good, with perfect spices and tender mutton. The Biryani was also a pleasant surprise, better than the Thali. The Fish Tawa Fry was excellent, and the chicken starters were delicious, though a bit spicy.
Mixed Experience: The food quality can be hit or miss. Sometimes the chicken is rubbery, and the mutton pieces could be cooked better. The sol kadi was not very appealing. The service can be slow when it's crowded, and the waiters seemed tired. The washrooms need improvement; they are small and not very clean.
Reasonable Prices and Good Quantity: The prices are generally reasonable, and the quantity is good. However, sometimes the Thali didn’t have enough mutton, which was disappointing. A half Thali option would be a great addition.
Vegetarian Options: They have some veg options like Paneer dishes and a veg thali, which are above average. But the place is mainly popular with non-veg lovers.
Ample Parking and Kid-Friendly: The restaurant has ample parking space and a separate seating area for stags and families. There are a few swings for kids, which is a nice touch.
Overall Ambiance: The ambiance is good, with a large seating area. The food is generally nice, but it can be a bit too spicy for some. The restaurant used to be a favorite for non-veg lovers, but the taste has declined recently.
In conclusion, Shivendra Hotel has its highs and lows. While it still offers some great dishes, there are areas that need improvement. It's worth a visit if you enjoy non-veg food, but be prepared for some...
Read moreOh this place is one of its kind! It's huge ... The food no doubt is good but a lil spicy for my taste buds, however everything that was served on my table was good... They majorly are popular for their Mutton and Chicken Thali and Biryanis and Dalcha... So I was out with two of my friends who wanted to have the Thali (Mutton) so they called for the same... I stuck to basics of ordering a chicken dum biryani. To my surprise the biryani was better than the Thali... My friends appreciated the Thali but also mentioned the Taste could have been better bad the mutton pieces could have been cooked better which I agreed to! Apart from that the Fish Tawa Fry that we ordered was mind boggling! It was just perfect! Moving on to starters we ordered chicken tandoori and chicken crispy and both were delicious... (n a lil on the spicy side) but it was not just spicy it had taste to it! We ordered sol kadi (which I never have been a fan of but it was not that great! Maybe coz I don't like it I landed on that conclusion...but my friends didn't find it very appealing either) I hope it was just today hehehe and then one imp point barring the food! The washrooms need to be looked after they are very compact with a big passage and Washrooms are super tiny, and not very clean! All we need is hygienic washrooms and the quality of ur food Is something I won't question! #YouMadeMyDay...
Read moreThe taste here is good for most of the dishes we ordered but nothing unique that you can get only in this restaurant. We ordered Chicken Tandoori, Mutton Handi and Chicken Biryani. Chicken Tandoori was good and juicy, the flavours were well marinated. Mutton Handi was good per my friends review as I don't eat sheep mutton and they don't serve goat meat. Chicken Biryani was also good with huge quantity.
Pros: Quantity for dishes is good as 2 people can easily devour 1 dish. It's not very heavy on pocket but neither very light. So don't go there on month ends.
Cons: The rassa and alni i had was pretty average and that spoiled my mood as I was there especially for that on a friend's recommendation. Ambience is very basic and not a kid-friendly place. The location is out of the city and to travel that far and just have good taste is not what I was looking for. I was expecting some amazing taste for the local dishes. I have had much better in nearby places. If it's nearby place for you, you can give it a try. The service isn't on the edge so you need to have patience if you expecting quick service. Only Sheep meat is served, so if you have only goat meat this place is not...
